Two normal structure hybrids, one MAXIMUS® semi‐dwarf hybrid and one normal structure Clearfield® hybrid join the DuPont stable of market leading hybrids for the UK oilseed rape grower. All four new hybrids were registered after completing National List trials in the UK. In addition to these four new hybrids the normal structure hybrid PT234 launched in 2014 is now newly added to the HGCA North Recommended List. PT234 has been added to the North HGCA Recommended List for 2015. PT234 is the shortest normal structure hybrid in the Pioneer portfolio with an earliness of flowering score of 7 and a maturity score of 6. PT234 has given extremely consistent gross output yield scores of 109 %, 107 % and 110 % in Official and HGCA trials through 2012, 2013 and 2014. PT234 can be viewed on the Pioneer stand. PX117 is a NEW MAXIMUS® semi‐dwarf hybrid that provides growers with a slightly taller semi‐ dwarf type at a typical height of 128 cm. PX117 also boasts the highest oil content of any Pioneer MAXIMUS® hybrid so far tested in the UK. PX117 has been planted next to PX113 on the Pioneer stand to help growers compare these two outstanding MAXIMUS® semi‐dwarf options. PT240CL will be sold for the first time in 2015. This NEW normal structure Clearfield® hybrid has a stem canker resistance score of 7 ensuring that growers intending to use the increasingly popular Clearfield® technology in 2015 now have disease resistance levels at a similar level to those found in non‐Clearfield® types. PT235 is the first Pioneer PROTECTOR® clubroot tolerant hybrid to be registered in the UK. PT235 boasts a stem canker score of 7 which is significantly higher than most other clubroot tolerant hybrids currently marketed in the UK. PT244 is a new normal structure hybrid with a yield equal to PR46W21 in UK National List trials but with a stem canker score of 6 and a light leaf score of 5. “When it comes to maximising profit from oilseed rape different cropping situations require different solutions”, says Andy Stainthorpe, DuPont Pioneer Business Manager for the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia. ‘’The DuPont Pioneer range has been developed to ensure growers can select the most appropriate technology for their circumstances. For many growers normal structure double low hybrids such as PR46W21, PT211 or PT234 are the right choice but for others the use of advanced traits embedded into products such as MAXIMUS® semi‐dwarf hybrids and Pioneer Clearfield® hybrids may be more likely to return those higher gross margins’’. Growers are cordially invited to call in and view large plots of the different DuPont Pioneer hybrids at Cereals 2015.
