Now more than ever not only do you require the skills to deliver complex projects, and manage corporate responsibilities but you also need to develop community knowledge of and promote community participation in the planning and decision making for natural resource management projects. This Diploma qualification is suited to individuals who work in or aspire to work in community based organisations, individual enterprises and government agencies responsible for the delivery of complex natural resource management projects and for ensuring community involvement in planning and decision making, as well as landholders and farmers looking at their own land management and operational developments. These roles are diverse and include carrying out community consultation on environmental issues, overseeing natural area restoration projects, managing visitors and staff, advising and educating the public, and developing conservation strategies. Course Structure This qualification is designed to be completed through the process of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). It is ideal for those already working in the industry who wish to upgrade or formalise their skills. The Diploma of Conservation and Land Management includes units focusing on land and water management, project management and community development. Entry Requirements Compulsory requirements To demonstrate competence at a Diploma level there are a number of underpinning skills and knowledge requirements. To achieve competency you will need to demonstrate the ability to read and interpret often complex resource material, present information and data in a range of formats, use technology including relevant computer software, have the ability to analyse and solve problems, be open to learning new ideas and techniques and be able to work with diverse individuals within a group context. Applicants are expected to: • Have relevant experience and be working in the area of this qualification (contact Instructor to discuss) • Have access to a personal computer with up-to-date programs, Adobe Reader and satellite broadband internet connection or similar. • Basic computer skills e.g. email, basic word processing skills, use of internet • Show completion of Year 10 or equivalent or be able to demonstrate similar literacy and numeracy levels Selection criteria In this intake, the following section criteria will be used to assess applications only in the situation that there are more applications received than places available: Selection criteria 1 Current resume. Selection criteria 2 Demonstrated previous experience or study in a related field in either paid or unpaid positions. Generally, Rural Training Queensland will have enough places in each VET course of study intake for all people who apply. This is a sample of 10 units which could make up the qualification. Other units may be selected on negotiation with the Instructor depending on students ability to provide RPL evidence but packaging rules of qualification must be met. This schedule represents the tuition fees for students who are enrolling in these units of study and represent the tuition fees payable for these units of study. Fees and/or EFTSL may vary if students select different electives. EFTSL means the equivalent full time study load and is a measure of the study load based on a student undertaking a course on a fulltime basis over an academic year. The census date is the date after which a student incurs a debt for the VET unit of study in which they are enrolled. If a student remains enrolled in a unit of study after 5pm on the census date, then they will incur fees for that unit. VET FEE-HELP is available for this course for eligible students.
