I have been happily married to my best friend
Michael for 17 years. We reside in Castleton
with our two teenage children Dylan and Hannah. We all have a passion for the outdoors
therefore we are rarely home. My daughter and
I have a huge
passion for horses. We just took in a mini
horse named Annie Mae. Who is a joy to
watch. My horse is a retired race horse named
Billy Baron (barn name is Ivan).
My favorite sport teams are the New York
Yankees and New England Patriots. My hobbies consist of scrapbooking, stamping( am a
current Stampin Up demonstrator), horseback
riding, reading and spending time with my
family. Watching my kids grow and blossom
before my eyes.
I believe this is why I enjoy working with children. My two children are my world. I love
making a difference in children's lives.

Jennifer is the Eckerd Director for the Rutland Vermont programs. Jennifer has been
with Eckerd for close to four years but she’s
been a social worker or social work supervisor for over 22 years. Jennifer grew up on
Naval bases all over the USA and in several
foreign countries and to date loves to travel
to see and enjoy other cultures. Jennifer is
the mother of two boys, Caleb (20) and
Collin (15) and she’s been married to her
husband Dan for 23 years. Together she and
Dan were foster parents in NC (their last
port of call before moving to Vermont) to
dozens of children. Jennifer’s heart is with
families and seeing them be successful!

Thankfully the weather cooperated and our event held last Saturday, April 25th at the RCPCC
Brandon location was a huge success! The outside events were organized by key Comcast representatives who oversaw teams of volunteers from Comcast, RCPCC employees and families,
Rutland City Rotary and community members.

Learning Together
The Learning Together students spent some class time working on mixed media projects this month. The freedom of mixed media
seemed to stir their imaginations. Each student quickly planned out their pieces and began working on them, although some said in the
end they were totally different than what they planned. Art is like that sometimes. They worked with many different media supplies and
used varied techniques to make texture and images. We will share photos of the finish projects next month.

We started out this project as the toddlers painting paper that I
planned on later turning into beautiful 3D spring flowers, but
imagination took us a whole new direction when the kids realized
the colors looked like fire! They wanted to be fire fighters and put
out the fires on their papers. After deciding water is what puts out
fires, they each got small amounts on their paper, mixing it in with
the paint as they extinguished the flames. So, our project that was
supposed to be one thing, turned into a very different thing, where
the paper in the end could not possibly be saved. We don't have
beautiful spring flowers hanging on display. But the experience
they got was so much more valuable than any product we could
have kept! In one messy, child guided activity, they learned about
red and yellow making orange, vocabulary such as splatter, splash,
and squish, felt a huge variety of textures, explored creative expression and taught the idea that their ideas matter.... That's just a short
list. A great reminder of the value of process not product driven
art!
Chaplin Chatter
Chaplin Pre-K enjoyed a field trip to the Vermont
Teddy Bear Factory in Shelburne in April. Not only
did they tour the factory but they all went home with
a bear! A student’s grand father generously helped
pay for bears for the children who could not afford
it.
In the Big Bird classroom, the kids made colorful
paper chains to celebrate spring. They also have been
singing, dancing and clapping.
Tiny Tots have been decorating for spring as well.
They have going outside with the nicer weather and
helped clean up the property.
All the infants are growing fast and have been enjoying sensory play with their teacher.

Spring is finally here and with it, lots
of planning for this year’s GW Savage sponsored, Rutland County Parent-Child Center Golf Tournament!
This year’s tournament will take
place on Friday, August 21st at Proctor-Pittsford Country Club. Checkin is 12 noon followed by a shotgun
start with a scramble format at 1:00
pm. There will be many prizes including a Hole in One Jeep provided
by Brileya’s Chrysler-Jeep. Following
the tournament, there will be appetizers in the Clubhouse and a delicious buffet specially prepared by
Garafano’s Grille. Bob Prozzo will
auction many entertainment and golf
related items off during the Live
Auction. You don’t want to miss
