Student Spotlight: Jade Hanson (Water Ski) - National Champion
I started water skiing behind a tractor in our yard when I was 2 and before I
could walk my dad would put me up on his shoulders as he skied down the lake. I
have been skiing since I was five years old and I have practiced consistently to
make it to where I am today in the world of water skiing. I am ranked eighteenth
overall in the US.
In high school, I was the Team Captain of the Varsity tennis team and was the
number one girl on the team for the four years I attended. I also was a part of the
National Honor Society my junior and senior year. I also was a level 9 gymnast
throughout high school which kept me busy and helped me with my waterskiing skills.
Winning the national championship was one of the most exciting
things I have experienced. I had won the Regional AWSA
tournaments in the past but they were not as fulfilling as this
award. While I was performing the best I could at the
tournament, my awesome Texas A&M teammates cheered me on
with enthusiasm. They cheered me on as I went up to accept my
award at the banquet. It is a moment that I will never
forget. Being a member of the Texas A&M water ski team my
freshman year has been an exceptionally rewarding
experience. My
teammates are
wonderful and we are
all supportive of each
other.

Meet the Executive Committee: Mike Strachan
Howdy! My name is Mike Strachan, and I am a Junior Civil Engineering major
from Spring, Texas. I joined the Paintball club my sophomore year in 2013
after transferring from A&M at Galveston. I have been playing competitive
paintball since 2011, traveling all over the country to compete. Competing at
the collegiate level has been an amazing experience for me to grow not only
as a player but a person. My recent accomplishment with the team is winning
the last 5 South Central Collegiate Conference tournaments in a row, keeping
A&M on top in our conference. Since joining the club, I slowly gained a
leadership role within the group and then became the president this passed
semester. The alumni have set an amazing foundation for our current
members and we continue to build on it with the help of advisors Keith and
Jessica, and I am excited to see what the future holds for us.
