Welcome to the First Annual
“Performance Plus” Bull Sale!
Kaye and I are very excited to bring a Red Angus bull sale
back to the area again. It is no secret the cattle business
has been pretty good recently. With cattle numbers still very
low, we anticipate we will continue to see good times for
some years to come. As we start restocking the national
cow herd, I believe we will see a much larger percentage
of red hided cattle take root. In recent history, Red Angus
is the ONLY breed to experience continued growth, while
all other breeds have experienced decline. Why is this? It’s
very simple; Red Angus are tuned into the commercial
cattle business and its needs. I like to call us the “No
problem” breed. We offer calving ease, growth, maternal,
carcass and excellent dispositions. In short the cattle are
just plain good and commercially accepted.
Within the pages of this catalog you will find a variety of
bulls and genetics from a group of breeders we have
assembled as the core of this sale. I truly believe there is a
bull in this offering for nearly any program. We will offer you
heifer bulls, growth bulls, age advanced bulls to cover more
cows and proven herdsires from our own programs.
I encourage you to study the catalog to find the bull that
fits your needs. If you have any questions on a specific
lot, please feel free to contact either the breeder directly or
myself and we will be more than glad to assist you in any
way we can. If you are unable to be at the sale it will be
broadcast on DV Auction for your convenience or you can
call me directly with an absentee bid. All absentee bids will
be handled in the strictest of confidence as you have come
to expect from us. We will also have staff available on sale
day to handle phone bids.
We hope to see you in Bloomfield, Iowa for the first
“Performance Plus” bull sale!
Sincerely,
Stuart & Kaye Gilbert

3111 is an age advanced bull that will cover a few more cows. He is sired by Jackhammer and is out of a Major
League daughter. Von’s granddaughters have shown this bull successfully and he has an excellent disposition.
Check out his growth numbers 75 for WW EPD, 114 for YW and he also boasts a 0.82 MARB EPD. The grand
daughters have some big plans in the Red angus business.

B231 has an interesting pedigree, his sire is a son of the Dory Jiba cow and influenced by the Major League bull. His
dam has roots in both the A1 and Bieber programs and traces back to the great design bull. At 68 lbs and a -3.1 BW
EPD, he is a good choice for use on heifers. Another of the grand kids show projects, he is easy to get along with. I
think the girls are on the right track if they can keep grandpa in line!

Twin to 741A he is just as impressive. Sired by Eclipse the first calf crop passed our wildest expectations and now
that the first daughters are in production, teat size udder shape, and dimension is icing on the cake. A unique EPD
profile of moderate birth, WW-76, YW-123 both top 4% and heifer pregnancy 13 top 7% Making the decision to utilize him heavy very easy unfortunately a breeding season injury has placed that into jeopardy. This will be the last
set of bulls to be offered for sale the next two seasons. Retaining 25% semen interest.

A long time Red Angus breeder Rex James once told me you breed for good females and the good bulls will come
along. 743A is a walking testimate to that breeding philosophy. The Black Cap cow family was purchased as an
outcross pedigree for their off the charts fertility body depth and feminity. The combination of Eclipse with Sam’s
Prospector, U Bar High Capacity and Mulberry is a maternal machine with added bone and performance. Moderate
birth, WW-75, YW-121 both top 4% and milk of 23 & heifer pregnancy 15 top 3%. A full sister in the pasture & his
mother heading to the IVF program allowing the decision to part with 743A little easier take advantage. Retaining

What a great pedigree backing this age-advantaged beautiful dark red bull! As
a yearling he scanned very well with a 3.86 IMF ratio of 102 and a 11.68 REA
ratio of 102. His dam, Phyllis 47 is a foundation cow for Rich Red Angus that
has produced great ones like Absolute Power 125, Crimson Tide 135, and not to mention, a flushmate sister to 345 that broke
the long standing record for high-selling female as a yearling heifer at the Iowa Beef Expo in 2014. His sire, Oly 554T, is one of
the most widely used Red Angus sires in the country. He is a proven outcross to many red genetics and is a definite calving ease
sire, ranking in the top 5% of the breed for BW EPD. He currently has over 800 progeny recorded with a BW ratio of 98 and WW
and YW’s of 101. Don’t miss the opportunity On April 11th to add this kind of influence to your herd. Weight as of 3/16 #1995

HERD BULL! This coming two year old is a bull that I have liked from the time he was a calf. He was shown very
competativly as a calf and if we had not used him in our own herd, he would have very likely been shown as a
yearling as well. Phenotypiclly, he is exceptionally nice and check out his birth to weaning and yearling spread. He
has been in the herd bull pen all winter and didn’t get anything but hay to eat but on 3/15 he still weighed 1670# .

PROVEN HERDSIRE! Cash was our pick of the yearling bulls offered in Blair Ags bull sale in Canada. We have
used him for two years and retained all but one heifer out of him, she sold as a sale highlight in the Harvest of the
Reds sale. Cash was also shown very successfully and was Junior Champion Bull in Louisville. His calves come
easy and average 84 pounds at birth. Big hipped, big boned and very complete, Cash was the last son produced by
the great donor dam, Golden 72K. If we hadn’t kept the daughters, he wouldn’t be for sale!

Here’s a big old bear of a bull we raised out of an
embryo purchase from Six Mile. From what we’ve
heard, the Peakdot cattle are no frills, rancher’s kind of cattle. I don’t know a lot about the bull himself but if Six Mile
liked him enough to flush their foundation Pride cow, that’s all the assurance I need. I have always wanted something
out of the old Pride 3’97 cow of Six Mile’s so I bought these embryos out of one of their online auctions. He’s thick
and stout and again, the maternal traits of his daughters should be awesome, considering who his momma is.

We really considered keeping this bull to use here at home. He’s a Soldier out of the famous Countess 6409 cow that we
purchased as an embryo package from Wildcat. He’s super deep bodied and correct and should make awesome females. We
have a flush mate heifer at home that we will be adding to the herd. I would expect you to want to keep all of his daughters to
add to your herd as well. With this pedigree, he could definitely work for a purebred breeder or will make an awesome herd bull
for a commercial breeder wanting to produce top notch females.

Here’s a bull with an outstanding pedigree. High Capacity 224 out of our foundation donor, Perks Red Robin 41R. If you want to
add some punch to your calves, here you go. We ended up losing the cow when he was born from an unrelated injury so he was
raised on a bottle and never nursed the cow. He is super quiet. Our 4 year old led him around this summer and a neighbor kid
showed him in mini 4-H. He kind of turned into a local celebrity and I’m going to get myself in trouble for selling him but you can’t
keep them all. I was hoping for something special when I planned this mating. He has met my expectations and developed into a
really deep bodied, thick, stout made herd bull with a great disposition. He hasn’t missed a meal since that first week and you can’t
even tell he never nursed the cow.

This bull is the result of an embryo purchase from Christy Collins and
Rainbow Red Angus from Canada. I fell in love with the Lois heifer that
Rainbow sold at Red Round Up in Canada a few years ago and really like the cow family she came from. I was hoping
for a heifer to add this cow family to my herd, but alas, I got this stud instead. He’s a moderate farmed, thick made bull
with an outcross pedigree. I don’t believe that you can get semen on his sire in the US. He was one of the high selling
bulls out of the impressive U-2 program north of the border. Christy only picks out the best to bring back to the US and
has been very successful doing so. Here is your chance to share in fresh genetics.
