REGGAEFEST 2015 VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Below is a description of the various Volunteer Areas and Positions and a sample schedule.
The shift times and number of Volunteer positions are very preliminary and will be finalized
as we get closer to the Festival.
GREEN TEAM
Are you concerned with the current state of our environment? Do you want to be
part of a team that makes a difference? Join our Green team this year. As a Green
Educator, your main responsibilities include educating the general public about properly
disposing their waste, recyclables, and compostable material at our waste stations that have
been provided by the City of Calgary. Or as part of the Green Crew, you can help keep our
green space free of litter. Lots of training will be provided. Be part of our new initiative and
help ReggaeFest “Go Green”!
Main Duties for Green Educators include:
• Will be stationed at bin locations around the festival
• Your main responsibility will be educating patrons about which bin their waste/compostable
material/recyclables go into
• Ensuring that the bins do not overfill (if they do, contact your coordinator)
• Ensure that the proper material is going into the right bin
Main Duties for Green Crew Include:
• Your main responsibility will be ensuring that the festival’s green spaces are free of waste
• Help change bins once they are full and replace them with empty bins located near the roll-off
• Once the full bins are taken to the roll-off area, sort through and ensure the right materials are in
each bin

BEER GARDEN
Enjoy and take pride in creating the best beer garden atmosphere and experience for our
guests? This crew is for you! Ideally you’ll be Pro-Serve Accredited (which you’ll need to
provide to us along with your Photo ID to ensure you are over 18). If you’re not Pro-Serve
Accredited, then you’ll be required to attend mandatory pre-festival training before you’re
accepted as a volunteer on this crew. One rule for this crew: no alcohol consumption is
permitted while on shift.
Main Duties Include:
• Collect beer tickets
• Serve drinks (Draft System)
• Wipe tables, clean up spills
• Collect empty bottles and cans for recycling/donation (if any)
• Ensure general cleanliness of the Beer Garden area
• General Security
• Keep track of supplies going to VIP Area and Green Room

ReggaeFest 2015 Volunteer Job Descriptions
DRIVERS/TRANSPORTATION
You’re an outgoing and sociable individual and interested in the Artistes. As part of this crew
you’ll be one of our Drivers to help get our Artistes where they need to be on time. You’ll
know the city well, and have an excellent driving record. Drivers must be over 25 and must
provide a copy of valid Driver’s License. You’ll also be flexible on your shift times as they
may vary at the last minute for that special Artiste!
Main Duties Include:
• Artiste Transportation
o Pick up/drop off at airport
o Transport to and from venue/hotel on the day of the festival
o Other transportation as required
• Pick up and drop off of rental vans
• Ensure vans are returned to the proper location in the hotel parking area

FRONT GATE TICKET TAKERS
You love working with people and have no problem working in large crowds. You’re
outgoing, sociable and interested in welcoming our Festival guests, as you’re the first face of
the Festival they see! As a member of this crew you may be asked some general information
questions but not to worry, we’ll have a general orientation and training session before your
shift!
Main Duties Include
• Greeting and welcoming people
• Taking tickets & collect stubs or scan tickets
• Placing wristbands on all persons entering the park
• Assisting with providing directions
• Helping with with teardown on Saturday night after the Front Gate Closes

GREEN ROOM HOST/HOSTESS
Is guest hospitality and service right up your alley? Do you have an out-going personality
and great people skills? If so, Green Room Host, is the perfect volunteer position for you.
This crew would appeal to you if you enjoy working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment,
where you are the ultimate host. The Green Room is where all of our Artiste’s can socialize
and relax before and after their performances. You’ll enjoy being a host/hostess and taking
care of our Artiste’s needs as they arise, so they have a great experience. You’ll need to
provide your Government Issued Photo ID to ensure you are 21 or over and we’ll need you to
attend mandatory pre-festival training to qualify for this crew. If you have your ProServe
License that would be great but is not a requirement. One rule for this crew: No alcohol
consumption before or while on shift.
Main Duties include but are not limited to:
• Making sure artists needs are met while consulting with the Green Room Coordinator
• Set up tables, chairs, hand wash station, water color, stock coolers and fridge, as well as help
unload cargo vehicles with all the supplies for the day
• Decorating, tablecloths, and various promotional signage
• Ability to stand on your feet for the majority of your shift
• Make runs to the beer gardens to get more ice and beer if needed
• All shifts include bartending, food service, clearing tables and maintaining general cleanliness
• Ability to lift 5-15 lbs
• Monitor artistes/guests to make sure they have appropriate access to the Green Room area and
advise to Green Room Coordinator immediately of any security concerns
• Evening shift with tear down and pack up all left over food, beverages and supplies

INFORMATION TABLE / RAFFLE TICKET SELLERS
As part of this crew you are the guides to our Festival. You’ll be involved in providing
directions to our Festival guests and answering their general information questions. Your
position may be at the Information Tent, guiding our guests or selling Raffle Tickets. You are
skilled in handling cash and love the fact you balance your float at the end of your shift! If
you’re a roaming Raffle Ticket Seller, you’ll love roaming the Festival grounds to sell as many
tickets as you can without disrupting our guests too much! You may also be involved with
managing our Lost and Found items and may be needed to work with Security in the event of
a lost (or found) person – but not to worry, training will be provided! Tasks vary so you’ll
need to be able to Walk, sit, bend, lift 10-20 lbs without difficulty and be able to carefully
handle cash as well as handle large crowds.
Main Duties Include:
• Friday night you may be involved in one or more of the following activities:
• Pre-selling tickets for Saturday’s events
• Providing Festival information
• Saturday you may be involved in one or more of the following activities:
• Providing information on locations within the site (Kids Area, ATM)
• Co-ordinating the Lost and Found
• Dealing with Lost Persons
• Selling raffle tickets and display prizes, co-ordinate roaming ticket sellers
• Balancing cash for raffle ticket sales

KIDZ ZONE
Working with children something you love doing. If you enjoy a Volunteer crew where you get
to play (while supervising of course), then this is the crew for you!
Main Duties Include:
• Greeting parents and children with a smile and helping them feel welcome
• Prepare craft packages
• Assist with crafts and sports, helping younger children as needed
• Keeping a watchful eye on children and reminding parents to not leave children unattended
• Clean up and tear down as needed

RUNNERS / FLOATERS
If you’re someone who enjoys helping out wherever needed, then this crew is for you. You’ll
enjoy being on this crew if you love variety and running around helping the other Festival
crews with the last minute needs. Or if you’re unsure about where you’d like to volunteer,
this may be a great place to start. Because you may be needed to help out other crews like
Site Safety or at the Front Gate, you’ll need lots of flexibility in your shift times. Some areas
may need you to lift heavy items (e.g. 20 lbs) or hold a valid Drivers’ License. This crew
needs a variety of volunteers to help out where needed so feel free to sign up even if you
don’t have all the qualifications – we’ll find a place for you! One rule though: you must be
over 18, so valid Picture ID with birth date is critical.
Main Duties Include:
• Miscellaneous duties where required – must be flexible to work where needed
• Duties may include lifting and/or driving

You enjoy working behind the scenes to make this the best opening day! You follow
directions well, and can handle heavy lifting. On Festival day you enjoy being available to
help out with last minute set-ups.
Main Duties for the General Services Crew Include:
• Providing support setting up tables, chairs, banners, etc on the day prior to the festival and the
day of the Festival
• Assist vendors (food and merchandise) with setup / teardown
• Parking lot assistance – direct vendors to drop-off area

ReggaeFest 2015 Volunteer Job Descriptions
SITE SAFETY
You enjoy working with a crew of responsible people who see the safety and wellbeing of our
Festival guests, Artistes and volunteers as the highest priority. Your role is to help ensure a
safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all festival patrons, Committee members and volunteers.
You’ll be the extra eyes for our Security Lead, Security Staff and the Calgary Police Service.
Positions include manning the site entrances and exits, the back stage, VIP and beer garden
areas or patrolling the Festival site. You are an ambassador for the Festival so think PR in
everything you do! Smile and chat with the folks that you meet, whether it's patrons,
performers or other volunteers. The volunteers interested in working on this crew should be
able to walk for four hours with intermittent breaks. One requirement is that you must be 21
or over, so Picture ID and proof of age is mandatory.
Main Duties Include:
• Assist Security Staff and Calgary Police Service by monitoring activities on the Festival site.
• Monitor perimeter of park, front gate, Beer Garden or Backstage as assigned by the Security
Lead
• Report any and all unacceptable behaviour to the Security Coordinator who will then work with
the Security Staff and Calgary Police Services to address and resolve.

from the moment they walk into the area until they leave, and while they relax and enjoy the
Festival from a prime location on the grounds. You’re outgoing and enjoy being a
host/hostess. You’ll need to provide your Government Issued Photo ID to ensure you are 21
or over and we’ll need you to attend mandatory pre-festival training to qualify for this crew. If
you are ProServe Certified that would be great but is not a requirement. One rule for this
crew: No alcohol consumption before or while on shift.
Main Duties include but are not limited to:
• Monitoring access and making sure V.I.Ps are greeted and welcomed to the area
• Bartending, food service, clearing tables and maintaining cleanliness and tidiness of the area
• Help unload carts when they deliver supplies
• May include some tear down duties at the end of the Festival
