CELEBRATE DAIRY MONTH

Help us celebrate National Dairy Month each Saturday in June! Doc
Remick’s historic barn will be open, offering a chance to learn the history
of his dairy business, Hillsdale Farm. Plus, tour the 1930s milk house to
see how milk went from barn to table, meet the milk cows and talk with
the farmer about the history of the dairy industry. A delicious dairy sample
will be available from our own Farmhouse Kitchen. Tour is included with
$5 Museum admission.; please check in at the Museum Center. l

LEARN ABOUT: SHEEP & WOOL
Monday, April 20 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
Remick offers seasonally-based classes for homeschool students—
ages 6–12—the third Monday of each month during the school year.
Discovery through the senses, combined with hands-on activities and
discussion, encourages deeper understanding of each themed class. We
look forward to seeing you for one, more, or all of these unique classes!

$5/participant. Students must be accompanied by a parent or chaperone,
not left unattended. No charge for chaperones unless participating in the
class project. Pre-register for April 20 class by Monday, April 13; no walk-ins.

FIBER ARTS GROUP

Tuesdays: April 7 & 21 9:30 a.m.–12 p.m.
Fiber artists of all types and/or interested onlookers are welcome to
join our Happy Weavers & Friends group to observe the historic art of
weaving, spinning, sewing, quilting, and more! Bring your own project to
work on and we’ll provide a comfortable space. This group meets monthly
on an every other Tuesday schedule. FREE. (Does not include access to the

PLANTS OF FIELD & FOREST
PLANNING YOUR MEDICINE GARDEN
with Carol Felice, Herbalist/Museum Educator
Saturday, April 11 1–3 p.m.
Through slides, discussion and tasting, we will get to know the planting
needs and uses of 17 beautiful medicinal plants. We will address details
like: Will the Bee balm overshadow the Lemon balm? And just how wide will
the elecampane reach? We will share teas made from some of our subjects
and you will take home a booklet of their planting and harvesting guidelines.
$20/person, ages 16 & above. Please register by Wednesday, April 8.

NEW! HOMESTEAD ADVENTURES: SPRING
Tuesday, April 21– Friday, April 24 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
Children will learn about a new farm animal each day through hands-on
time with the animals, farm chores, stories, art & games. They’ll explore
the historic homestead Farm & Museum buildings to learn about the
seasonal rhythms of rural life. $120/participant for the 4-day week; 10%
off for Members. Registration opens Monday, March 16; Pre-registration
and payment due in full by Monday, April 6. For ages 7–12 (no age
exceptions). Bring your own lunch, 2 snacks and water bottle. Dress
appropriately for the season and for a farm experience; there will be
ample outside time and barn time with the animals.

PLANTS OF FIELD & FOREST SERIES
OUTDOOR WALKS

Fridays: May 1, 15 & 29 10–11 a.m.
Spring off on the right foot on ‘May Day.’ On this walk, learn to recognize the
abundance of useful, interesting, edible or medicinal plants on the Remick
properties. Join us for just one or multiple walks. With each succeeding
walk you will get to recognize the plants as they change through their
lifecycle and add new plants to your repertoire. We will go to different sites
each scheduled day. Dress for the day’s weather and varied terrain. We
will have a fun, casual attitude on our walks but feel free to bring a small
notebook or camera to help your memory if desired. Additional walk dates:
June–October. Walks included with $5 Museum admission.

HISTORIC BUILDING TOUR
CAPTAIN ENOCH REMICK HOUSE TOUR
Saturdays: May 23 & 30 11 a.m.–12 p.m.
The house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its
influence on the town of Tamworth, NH, and for its significant architectural
qualities. Highlights include 19th-century murals attributed to the
American painter John Avery, the original medical office and medicine
room used by both doctors, plus a host of antique furnishings and
exhibits showcasing New England architecture, foodways, medical history
and textiles. This guided tour begins promptly at 11a.m. Included with $5
Museum admission; please check in at the Museum Center. l

SMALL FARMERS CLUB
GET TO KNOW: CHICKENS
Friday, April 17 10–11 a.m.
A farm-fun hour for young children. Each monthly session includes a
hands-on activity with a different farm animal: brush a goat, milk a cow
or spin wool, to name a few! The time will be spent getting to know the
animals and will include a story, craft or game to complement learning.
$5/child, ages 2–6. Parents/guardians must accompany their child/
children for the duration of the activity. Children should be dressed to
spend time outdoors with appropriate clothing for inclement weather. No
pre-registration required.
