LINDA BARNHART, RN, BAN, MAL, Vice President, Post Acute
Operations & Patient Care Services, HealthEast Care System
Linda Barnhart is Vice President, Post Acute Care. She believes in lifelong
learning as evidenced by her journey from licensed practical nurse to
registered nurse to assistant nurse manager to nurse manager and
finally, to senior department director. This commitment to lifelong
learning – and then sharing important lessons with others – is one of
her core values. Linda brings over 35 years of experience (both by the
bedside and administrative leadership) to this position. Her background includes program
planning and implementation for patients presenting medical needs ranging from neurology,
oncology and orthopedics to surgery, dialysis, acute rehabilitation and hospice. Linda is Kaizen
(Lean) Leader certified, using that training to continuously seek improvement in patient care and
safety and to advance quality outcomes. She believes that acute care and post-acute care arenas
can learn much from each other in terms of enhancing the care delivery experience.
CATHY BARR, Senior Vice President, Ambulatory and Community
Service, President, Bethesda Hospital, HealthEast Care System
Cathy Barr has nearly 30 years of health care leadership experience
including hospital, clinic, home health care and community based health
services. In addition to her professional experience, she has been active
in the community and health care industry, and a leader in the transition
to post-acute care services. Currently, Cathy is the Senior Vice President
of Ambulatory and Community Services for HealthEast Care System
and President of Bethesda Hospital, a long-term acute care hospital. Cathy also has leadership
responsibility for home health care and HealthEast’s hospice organization, including a freestanding hospice house, a medical alert monitoring company, a community case management
division and a physician practice division serving nursing homes and transitional care units in
St. Paul, Minnesota, HeathEast employs over 7,000 employees and was recently rated as one of
the Top 100 Health Care Systems in the nation. At HealthEast, Cathy focuses on strategic
positioning of the post-acute care portfolio of businesses, operational results and innovation.
She is a strong organizational and industry advocate on many legislative issues that currently
face our industry. Cathy is frequently asked to testify at the Minnesota State Legislature on health
care trends and issues.
REGINA BERMAN, RN, MA, CPHQ, CCM, VP Population Health
Management, Memorial Care Health System
Regina is currently the VP for Population Health with the MemorialCare
Health System located in southern LA County and Northern Orange
County. Berman is overseeing key aspects of MemorialCare’s population
health management strategy, bringing 20 years of leadership experience
in health care performance improvement, quality, safety and knowledge
management and in clinical, operational and service excellence. As a
national innovator and pioneer in population health, in her role as Executive Director of Performance
Improvement Services at Hackensack University Medical Center New Jersey, she led a team
responsible for a $22 million, Pursuing Perfection Grant from Robert Woods Johnson Foundation
and IHI to pursue transformational health care strategies and the CMS Pay for Performance
demonstration Project whose efforts became the foundation for the Value Based Purchasing
legislation and informed design for Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs) across the U.S.
She has since served as Chair of New Jersey’s State Quality Program, on the Malcolm
Baldridge National Quality Program Board of Examiners, is a Diplomat of the American Board of
Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians and a Certified Professional in Healthcare
Quality of the National Association for Healthcare Quality. Berman served on the National Quality
Forum Executive Institute Advisory Board and Performance Measurement Task Force. She speaks
nationally on performance measurement improvement strategies, information management
and other topics.
KAREN BUTTERTON, Chief Strategy Officer. Barnes Healthcare Services
Karen Butterton provides extraordinary results leading and guiding
organizations. She has 30+ years in healthcare industry and has worked
in the hospital, assisted living, specialty infusion services, oncology
centers and the homecare arena. She has worked for such companies as:
National Medical Enterprises, Total Pharmaceutical Care, Apria, Alterra,
VACO Consulting, Air Liquide Global Healthcare, Liberty Medical and
currently is serving as the Chief Strategy Officer of Barnes Healthcare Services. She has over 15+
years in senior executive leadership positions. Karen has excelled in turning around
underperforming organizations and capitalizing on new growth opportunities. Career
achievements include the ability to drive the development, commercialization, and delivery of
new products and programs into the medical marketplace via strong marketing, sales-leadership
and operational delivery expertise. She successfully analyzes any organization’s critical business
drivers, identifies deficiencies and potential opportunities, develops innovative and cost-effective
solutions for enhancing competitiveness, increasing revenues, improving customer service
offerings and increasing EBIDTA.
PAMELA CHEVREAUX, VP Ambulatory Services, Long Beach Memorial
Medical Center
Since 2004, Pamela is the Vice President of Ambulatory Services at
Long Beach Memorial, a division comprised of Physical Medicine &
Rehabilitation, Occupational Medicine, Joint Replacement Center,
Family Practice, Senior Services, Respiratory Care, Sleep Disorder Centers,
and Neurodiagnostics. She is Lean-Leader Certified in Healthcare and
combines the principles of Lean, evidence-based practice, education
and research to implement the mission and vision of innovative, comprehensive patient-centered
care. She serves on The California Hospital Association Governing Board on Post-Acute Care
Services. Pamela brings with her an impressive history of effective leadership in healthcare over
the last twenty years. She has worked in for-profit and non-profit healthcare environments on
both the east and west coasts. Most recently, she was President of the Ahlbin Centers for
Rehabilitation Medicine Inc. which is affiliated with Yale New Haven Health Systems. Pamela
has a unique ability to create and manage highly effective teams that support the strategic
vision and help lead the industry toward improvements in healthcare delivery.

MICHAEL DEMAGALL, Licenses Nursing Home Administrator,
and Licensed Practice Nursing, Director of Accountable Care,
Saber Healthcare Group
Michael Demagall is a Licenses Nursing Home Administrator, and
Licensed Practice Nursing, working as the Director of Accountable Care
for Saber Healthcare Group, which currently operates 84 Skilled Nursing
Facilities, and Assisted Living across 6 states. Skilled nursing facility
experiences include, Nursing, MDS, Case Management, Business
Development, and as a multi-facility Administrator. As Director of
Accountable Care the job is to help ensure that Saber facilities are poised to provide value to our
partners; Hospitals, Physicians, Medicare, Insurance Companies, and the communities in which
they serve. Mr. Demagall lives in Aurora, Ohio with his wife Darlene and 2 beautiful children,
both of whom are highly involved in school, community, and sports. Mr. Demagall has coached
over 30 sports program locally in the community and enjoys developing the love for the games,
teaching responsibility, and leadership. Currently serves on the Mature Service Board of Directors
in Akron, Ohio, and has been past board member and President for University Hospital Bedford

JAMES NEWBROUGH, President, OhioHealth Home Care
James P. Newbrough is the president of OhioHealth Home Care, the
homecare division of OhioHealth located in Worthington, Ohio.
Mr. Newbrough joined OhioHealth Home Care in January of 2012.
Prior to joining OhioHealth Home Care, Mr. Newbrough was the chief
operating officer and chief nursing officer of Dublin Methodist Hospital
in Dublin, Ohio. Mr. Newbrough served the healthcare industry for more
than 18 years in a variety of positions including the president of Cambridge Home Health, CEO
of the VNA of the Treasure Coast, vice president with Visiting Nurse Service & Affiliates in Akron,
Ohio, and the administrator for Bon Secours Home Health Services in the Florida market.
Mr. Newbrough received a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Saint Joseph’s College of Maine
and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio.
He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor
Society and a graduate of the Leadership Akron and Leadership Indian River County programs.
CAROL RAPHAEL, Senior Advisor, Manatt Health Solutions
Carol Raphael is a Senior Advisor at Manatt Health Solutions. She
served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Visiting Nurse
Service of New York (VNSNY), the largest nonprofit home health agency
in the United States from 1989 to 2011. Ms. Raphael expanded the
organization’s services and launched innovative models of care for
complex populations with chronic illness and functional impairments.
Prior to joining VNSNY, Ms. Raphael held executive positions at Mt. Sinai Medical Center and in
New York City government. In 2013, Ms. Raphael was appointed by President Obama to the
Bipartisan Commission on Long Term Care. In 2012, Ms. Raphael was an Advanced Leadership
Fellow at Harvard University. She is chair of the Long Term Quality Alliance and is a Board
member of the New York eHealth Collaborative, a public-private partnership to advance the
exchange of health information. Ms Raphael is a member of the National Quality Forum
Coordinating Committee where she chairs its Post Acute, Long Term Care and Hospice Workgroup.
She served on numerous commissions including MedPAC , the New York State Hospital Review
and Planning Council and several Institute of Medicine Committees. She was a member of
New York State Governor Cuomo’s Medicaid Redesign Team.
LISA REMINGTON, President, Remington Health Strategy Group,

ANNETTE RUBY, Vice President Health Services Management,
SummaCare
Annette Ruby is a leading managed care executive with nearly 20 years
of industry experience. As the Vice President of Health Services
Management at SummaCare, she is responsible for driving clinical
strategy to achieve cost, utilization, and quality outcomes. Her work
has positioned SummaCare’s Medicare product as a high performing
plan with a CMS 4.5 star ranking and NCQA Excellent accreditation.
Combining professional leadership and business acumen, Annette has developed unique case
and disease management programs which has gained SummaCare both state and national
recognition. As a consultant for SummaCare’s third party administrator Apex Health Solutions,
Annette has worked with health systems to create new infrastructure and capabilities to deliver
insurance functions within integrated models including accountable care organizations. Annette
co-led the care management task force for New Health Collaborative, Summa Health System’s
accountable care organization. She spearheaded a post-acute delivery model that effectively
and safely transitions patients to the most appropriate level of care. Prior to joining SummaCare,
Annette worked throughout Ohio advocating for the rights of older adults receiving health
and long term care services. Her community involvement includes serving as an officer on the
InfoLine Board as well as serving as a Director on the Humility of Mary Housing, Inc. Board.
Annette also volunteers with the American Red Cross where she served as a hurricane relief
worker in Texas.
