Provence PROFESSIONAL DAYS European Symposium Culture and Education Seventh edition 8-‐9 July 2015 Cité du Livre Aix-‐en-‐Provence The “Professional Days” on 8 and 9 July 2015 shall unite two meetings: European Symposium Culture and Education Organised by the Paserelles department of the Festival d’Aix in collaboration with RESEO (European Network for Opera and Dance Education) and the Association Française des Orchestres (AFO), the Symposium offers professionals in the cultural and educational field, teachers, students and artists the occasion to exchange on creative experiences in performing arts education. The Monster in the Maze, an artistic and educational co-‐production between the Festival d’Aix, the Berliner Philharmoniker and the London Symphony Orchestra will provide the starting point for this seventh edition of the Symposium. Drawing upon the richness of this experience and other creative projects led by organisations in France and elsewhere in Europe, the Symposium shall explore the following topic: “Bringing together amateurs and professionals in artistic creation on European level” Culture Num Launched in 2014 at the Festival d’Aix-‐en-‐Provence, Culture Num invites us to reflect on new challenges and opportunities presented by the digital shift in the creative industries, particularly in the performing arts. The sessions of this second edition will focus both on digital tools in education work (developing prior exchanges concerning the Monster in the Maze and the digital platform created by the London Symphony Orchestra in the context of this project) as well as on the role of digital tools in creation and promotion of the performing arts. 2 EUROPEAN SYMPOSIUM CULTURE AND EDUCATION Topic : Bringing together amateurs and professionals in artistic creation on European level DRAFT PROGRAMME WEDNESDAY, 8 JULY 2015 11.00 Opening of the Professional Days 11.20 The Monster in the Maze: a European adventure -‐ or A story of a theme and its variations Origins of the Monster in the Maze Presentation of three unique variations of the Monster in the Maze 12.30 Lunch break 14.15 Coffee 3 14.30 Developing a threefold aim on European level: artistic, participative and educational objectives 14.30 From composing to performing: constraints in creation Discussion on the process of composing and subsequent adaptation during the course of rehearsals Other examples of similar projects 15.15 Transmission, training and professionalization: linking competencies and responsibilities?
