2015 IGG Guidelines - Motorola Solutions

The Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc.
(NYSE: MSI), is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for its 2015
Innovation Generation grant program. The Innovation Generation grant program is
designed to increase students’ skills in science, technology, engineering and math
(STEM) and/or increase engagement in STEM careers. The grants support innovative and
hands-on STEM programs, and provides support to education programs for elementary
through university students and teachers in the U.S. and Canada.
Grant requests should be between $10,000 and $60,000. We place a priority on
programs that meet three or more of the following criteria:









Focus on Motorola Solutions communities in and around the greater
metropolitan areas of: Schaumburg, Illinois; Plantation, Florida; Columbia,
Maryland; San Jose, California; and Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Engage students in innovative, hands-on STEM activities and challenges
Focus on vocational skills and certifications in engineering or information
technology
Teach STEM subjects through investigations of sustainability, product
development, safety or software solutions
Help teachers improve their teaching of STEM subjects
Teach creative-thinking and problem-solving skills as part of STEM activities
Focus on females and minorities underrepresented in STEM fields
Provide opportunities for Motorola Solutions employees to volunteer
Collaborate with other STEM education providers or institutions (for a list of last
year’s grant recipients, visit the Motorola Solutions Foundation website)
Schools and organizations that apply should be able to demonstrate how their program
will provide a measurable change in STEM awareness, skills and education through the
use of evaluation systems and appropriate measurement tools. In addition, schools and
organizations that demonstrate how their respective programs will move students
through the education pipeline to more advanced STEM education or careers are also
encouraged to apply.
Motorola Solutions Foundation grants can be used to support an entire program, or in
conjunction with other funding. Requests only for supplies and equipment are
discouraged. Grants are intended to be used in their entirety within 9-12 months after
announcement of the award. The Motorola Solutions Foundation supports 4-H, For
Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology (FIRST) Robotics, and Girls Scouts

affiliated programs through national-level partnerships. Local affiliates of those
organizations are discouraged from applying.
The application deadline is by close of business Central time March 20, 2015. Awards
will be announced in late June, 2015.
A limited number of national organizations will be invited to apply for grants above the
$60,000 maximum.
