WATER PURIFICATION
About 400 million of the global
population are already using
desalinated water especially in
Israel, Saudi Arabia, and
Australia, and estimates show that
in a decade 14 per cent of people
will have to resort to sea water to
address the freshwater supply

Brazil Acknowledges Severe Power Generation
Crisis- Fox News Latino
Brazil's mines and energy minister
on Wednesday acknowledged the
serious, drought-triggered crisis
affecting the nation's electricity
generation system, but he said the
risk of rationing is minimal.
Eduardo Braga appeared before
Brazil's lower house of Congress to
discuss the national electrical
system in the wake of several recent
blackouts, a situation that experts
say could worsen in the short-term
due to scant rainfall during the
Southern Hemisphere summer,
which ends on March 21.
The
reservoirs
of
Brazil's
hydroelectric dams, which account
for around 70 percent of the
country's
installed
generating
capacity, are at their lowest levels
since 2001, when the South
American nation was forced to
implement a strict energy rationing
regime.

Nuclear Power
Firms Feel
Squeeze– Wall Street
Journal
Future nuclear power plant
development in the U.S. looks
dismal as cost overruns and
multiyear delays plague four new
reactors under construction in
Georgia and South Carolina.
Southern Co. , the Atlanta-based
power utility that dominates much
of the Southeastern U.S.,
recently told Georgia regulators
that costs have ballooned by $1.4
billion for its minority stake in the
Vogtle nuclear power plant
expansion in Waynesboro, Ga.
The company’s Georgia Power
utility is now on the hook to
spend $7.5 billion for its 46%
share, while municipal utilities
own the rest. - Read More Here
