UNDEFEATED ROCHESTER RHINOS FACE LOUISVILLE CITY FC ON JUNE 13
Top 2 defensive teams in the USL with 1 loss between them meet at Sahlen’s Stadium
Rochester, NY – The Rochester Rhinos play their first USL league match in 2 weeks this Saturday, June 13 as the
team welcomes Louisville City FC to Sahlen’s Stadium for the first time ever. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
The Rhinos are currently 7-0-4 in USL league play with 25 points, good for first place in both the Eastern
Conference and the entire 24-team USL, and have allowed a league-low 4 goals. Louisville City stands in 4th
place in the Eastern Conference with a 5-1-5 record and 20 points, conceding just 8 goals in 2015.
The Rhinos top ranked defense is led by 4th year keeper Brandon Miller, who leads the USL with a 0.40 goals
against average with 4 shutouts in 8 matches, good for 2nd in the league. Louisville City goalie Scott Goodwin
tops the USL with 5 shutouts and is second in goals against at 0.73. Offensively, the Rhinos are paced by
Christian Volesky with 4 goals and Steevan Dos Santos and Alex Dixon with 3 goals apiece. Louisville City’s
leading scorer is Matt Fondy with 6 goals (tied for 4th in the USL) and 2 assists, followed by Kadeem Dacres with
3 goals and 2 assists and Magnus Rasmussen with 2 goals and 1 assist.
This is the second of two regular season matches between the Rhinos and Louisville City, with the first meeting
ending in a 1-1 draw on April 16 at Louisville Slugger Field. The home side took the lead in minute 38 as Juan
Guzman beat Rhinos keeper Adam Grinwis from 12 yards off a feed from Matt Fondy. The Rhinos dominated
the second half and equalized through Alex Dixon’s 68th minute goal off a through pass from Jonny Mendoza.
In their last league match, the Rhinos defeated FC Montreal 1-0 on May 30 at Sahlen’s Stadium on Steevan Dos
Santos’ 3rd goal in his last 4 USL matches (9th minute) and a shutout from Adam Grinwis. Louisville City won for
the first time ever on the road 2-0 vs. host FC Montreal this past Wednesday (June 10) paced by first half goals
from Tarik Morad (16th minute) and Matt Fondy (38th minute) and a clean sheet by Scott Goodwin.
This is the first of 3 matches in 6 days for the Rhinos. After Saturday’s contest, the Rhinos travel to Pennsylvania
for a 4th Round US Open Cup match against Philadelphia Union of Major League Soccer on Tuesday, June 16 at
PPL Park starting at 7:30 pm. Then, on Friday June 19, the Rhinos return to USL play facing the host Harrisburg
City Islanders at 7:30 pm at the Skyline Sports Complex. The next Rhinos home match is Saturday, June 27 th
against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Hall of Fame Night at Sahlen’s Stadium starting at 7:05 pm.
