April 10, 2015 Richard Bulpitt Elementary School 20965 77A Street Langley BC V2Y 2E6 Ph 6048885393 Email: [email protected] Twitter: @RichardBulpittS Website:h ttp://richardbulpittelementaryschool.weebly.com/ Principal Mrs. Lucy Lenko Vice Principal Ms. Susan Macdonald Administrative Assistant Ms. Cheryl Davies Dear Parents and Guardians: This past month, Ms. Denise Dubie (PAC President) and I met with other Willoughby Slope PAC Presidents and Principals at the School Board Office for a presentation from Ms. Hoffman (Superintendent of Schools). The meeting was to inform families on the Willoughby Slope about the results of the community consultations that have been ongoing since the beginning of the New Year. The consultations with Parents, Staff and the District favored an option for September 2015, that there will be no changes made with regards to boundaries or school configurations. However because of the projected numbers both at Yorkson Creek Middle school and Richard Bulpitt Elementary school, all slope elementary schools will retain their grade fives after 2015. This means that in September 2016, Richard Bulpitt will have students in grades K6 and Yorkson will have students from grades 7 and 8. This is to deal with the projected numbers of students who are expected to be coming to our neighborhoods. Please note that in September 2016, the boundaries of the schools on the Willoughby slope will change. At this time there are no set plans regarding boundary changes, only that changes will be made by September 2016. The consultation process also had all participants favor a new high school to be built on the Willoughby Slope. Our Langley School Board Trustees, made this recommendation to the Ministry of Education. Currently we are waiting for word from the Ministry whether this recommendation will be approved. As more information becomes available, we will make every effort to communicate with our school community. It is extremely important, that if there are families in our neighborhood who have not registered for kindergarten or any other grade for this September, that they do so as soon as possible. The last date was March 31st, and after this date we will only accept students if we have space available for that school year. In this newsletter, there is information about summer school . Richard Bulpitt will be open for summer school in the morning. Active Kids will be running sports activities in the afternoon. Country Bumkins is also running on Summer hours. Our own Vice Principal, Ms. Susan Macdonald will be summer school Principal at Richard Bulpitt this summer. Make sure you register quickly for the summer programs. There are some wonderful opportunities for enrichment activities but spaces fill up fast! As the last three months of the school year unfold, remember there is still lots of learning and teaching happening. A good nights’ sleep and consistent attendance and routines are very important for our youngsters. There will be special activities happening at school as the weeks progress but we hope to keep disruptions to a minimum. Please do not hesitate to contact the school or myself if you have questions or concerns. Sincerely, Mrs. L. Lenko Safety Update Dear Parents/Guardians, Due to double parking there was an accident in the school drive through this morning. Luckily no one was hurt. DO not double park it is dangerous! If there is an emergency, fire trucks and other emergency response vehicles cannot get through.
