General Conditions of Long Term Grazing Permits

Applicants for Long Term grazing permits must have a permanent residence within the
Riverina Local Land Services boundary.
•
The annual amount tendered for Long Term leases of more than 1 year will increase in line
with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for each subsequent year of the lease.
•
The accepted annual amount must be paid in full at the commencement of the lease year. An
annual invoice will be issued by Riverina Local Land Services in July of each lease year.
•
All applicants for Long-term grazing permits must have access to private land which is
capable of taking all stock from the TSR in the event of an emergency or a notice to remove
stock issued by Riverina Local Land Services.
•
Successful applicants will enter into a formal Grazing Agreement with Riverina Local Land
Services which will include site specific management conditions (a copy is available upon
request).
•
Riverina Local Land Services may grant other permits on a reserve for which a Grazing
Permit has been issued. Such permits may be issued for apiary sites, activities by Landcare /
community groups and other activities approved by the Riverina Local Land Services from
time to time.
•
Riverina Local Land Services may grant access to adjoining landholders through a reserve for
which a Grazing Permit has been issued.
•
Riverina Local Land Services may from time to time serve a notice on the Leasee requiring
the Tenant to remove all of their stock from the Reserve or a part of the Reserve to allow the
Reserve to be used by travelling stock. Travelling stock have right of way on all reserves
managed by Riverina Local Land Services.
•
During the Grazing Permit period, the Leasee will maintain all fences, gates and ramps on or
around the Reserve in good repair having regard to their condition at the commencement of
the permit. Stock of a class with the ability to escape must not be placed on the Reserve.
•
During the Grazing Permit period, the Leasee will control all weeds and pest animals on the
reserve.
•
During the Grazing Permit period, the Leasee will not:
a. use the Reserve in any way whatsoever for permanent or temporary residential
occupation;
b. enter the Reserve between sunset and sunrise except to attend to their stock;
c. damage or remove any timber or any tree, alive or dead, on the Reserve without consent
from Riverina Local Land Services;
d. carry out any excavation on the Reserve;
e. erect or allow to be erected any advertising, hoarding or sign on the Reserve unless
required to do so by law;
f. engage in any activity that may cause damage or inconvenience to other users of the
Reserve or stock travelling through the Reserve;
g. lock any gate giving access to the Reserve without the consent of the Riverina Local Land
Services;
h. allow any horse belonging to the Leasee on to the Reserve without the consent of the
Riverina Local Land Services;
i. damage any improvement on the Reserve;

assign or sub-let any rights granted to the Leasee under the permit;
overstock the Reserve contrary to the rules of good husbandry applicable in the local area
or as specified by Riverina Local Land Services;
l. hand feed stock unless authorised by the Ranger (TSR);
m. allow diseased stock as defined in the Stock Diseases Act, 1923 to enter upon or travel
across the Reserve or Reserves;
