riders should alert pedestrians from behind with
a bike bell or a “passing on your left”.
Stay aware of bikes and runners- listen and walk to

to pass safely.
Cross safely- the pathway intersects at busy
roads. Please make sure to use the cross walk
and look both ways.
Be visible- wear bright colors, stay on one side of
the path and use caution at dawn and twilight.
Hang up and walk- you are less likely to
recognize traffic, passing bikes and runners and
tripping hazards while on your cell phone.
Walk dogs on leashes- it is a Park District
Ordinance that all dogs must be leashed at all

AYSO- Soccer Affiliate, Ages 4-19 yrs.
The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) is a U.S. non-profit soccer
organization for children aged 4 through 19. AYSO has been in Rolling
Meadows for 35 years. AYSO believes strongly in six basic philosophies:
Everyone plays. Each child on a team is required to play at least one-half of
each game. Balanced teams. AYSO believes that children enjoy playing more,
and learn more from the game, when teams are as closely matched as
possible. Open registration. Any child who wishes to play may do so,
regardless of ability. Positive coaching. AYSO holds that children develop best
when they are given encouragement, rather than being “put down.” AYSO
expects coaching to be positive, instructional and encouraging at all times.
Good sportsmanship. AYSO tries to instill good sportsmanship in all of its programs. Player Development. The goal of Player Development is to
embrace the objective of improving the soccer skills and knowledge of every
AYSO player. Spring Season runs late April to early June. Fall season runs late
August to late October.

Marriot Theater, Lincolnshire,
Wednesday, July 8, 10 am-5 pm
Los Angeles, 1940’s. It’s double the laughs and double the intrigue as two
plots unfold at once when a young New York writer is brought to Los Angeles
to turn his best-selling crime novel into a screenplay. As we follow the writer’s
travails in the film industry, where the “envy is so thick, you can cut it with
the knife lodged in every other back,” the novel’s private-eye comes to life in
the evening’s split screen plot. With a dazzling, jazzy score by Cy Coleman and
David Zippel and a brilliant book by Larry Gelbart this musical is played on two
stages, “only one of which is reel, while the other is only real!” Trip includes

Graceland Cemetary Tour
Chicago, Wednesday, July 22, 9:30 am-4 pm
Beautiful and serene, Graceland Cemetery is a treasured oasis in the center of
our bustling city. Notables interred here are Chicago’s movers and shakers of

Wacker, George Pullman and many others. Their monuments were designed
by the famous sculptors of the era, Daniel Chester French, Lorado Taft and
architect Louis Sullivan. For two hours we stroll the winding paths, admire the
scenery and recount fascinating stories of our famed, and not so famed,
cemetery residents. This trip is a walking trip, no motorized vehicles are
allowed on cemetery grounds. Trip includes ticket and transportation. Lunch

Maybe, Baby it’s you! – A Romantic Comedy
Glass Blowing Studio & Tour
“Maybe Baby, It’s You.” Or maybe...it isn’t?! From the very first kiss to the notso-golden years of marriage, “Maybe Baby” is a wild ride through the search
for that most elusive relationship— the soul mate. What starts as a laundry list
of must-have soul mate qualities swiftly dwindles down to a desperate plea of
finding someone who is simply “warm and breathing” in this comical quest for
compatibility. From “Mr. Right” who hilariously becomes “Mr. Wrong” the
minute he steps onto the dance floor, to an elderly couple who considers
remarriage at their grandson’s soccer game, this series of eleven vignettes is
sure to warm the hearts of lovers everywhere! Trip includes ticket, lunch and

Peter Patterson has been working with hot glass for over 35 years. His
education includes a BFA from the Cleveland School of Art. Peter has learned
different techniques and styles of glasswork and incorporates that knowledge
into his own glass artwork. Much of Peter’s inspiration comes from nature,
life experiences, and underwater experiences in scuba diving. The fluidness
of glass is constantly in motion and lends a certain amount of surprise, which
makes glassblowing fun. We will be touring his studio, gallery and hot shop.
We will receive a demonstration on how art glass is made. The entire tour will

Northwest Special Recreation Association
NWSRA Exists to provide outstanding opportunities through recreation for children and adults with disabilities.
The Rolling Meadows Park District is proud to be a member of Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA). Throughout the northwest suburbs, NWSRA
is the leader in providing outstanding recreational opportunities for children and adults with disabilities. NWSRA’s team of full-time Therapeutic Recreation
Professionals and trained part-time staff offer a multitude of year-round program offerings including sports, camping, social programs and more. Increased self
esteem, physical and social skills development, making friends and having fun are just a few of the benefits of participating in NWSRA programs. Camps, trips,
and special events are also available at various times throughout the year.
Inclusion assistance is provided by NWSRA to those individuals who wish to participate in their home park district program. When registering, the parent of
an individual with a disability should inform the park district (and NWSRA, if desired) of any accommodation needed in order for the individual to successfully
participate in the program. The park district staff will then contact NWSRA for assistance with the accommodation.
C.A.R.E./N.W.S.R.A.
NWSRA is hiring leaders for positions of inclusion as well as NWSRA programs. If you have an interest in working with individuals with disabilities, contact
NWSRA at 847-392-2848 to discuss the possibilities.
Special Leisure Services Foundation, the fundraising arm of NWSRA, partners with public and private corporations, foundations and individuals to support
and promote for children and adults with disabilities. Throughout the year, the organization hosts a variety of fundraising events that help support accessible
transportation, general program support, inclusion opportunities, the Kevin T. Kendrigan Memorial Scholarship program and Special Olympics and Paralympics
opportunities in the northwest suburbs. For more information, please visit nwsra.org/slsf.
For more information on NWSRA, brochures may be picked up at the park district main office or at the NWSRA office at Park Central, 3000 W. Central Road in
Rolling Meadows. NWSRA may be contacted at 847-392-2848 (voice), 847-392-2855 (TTY) or 847-392-2870 (fax). Check out NWSRA on the internet at
nwsra.org or at facebook.com/nwsra.
Join the NWSRA Volunteer team!
Who can volunteer at NWSRA?
Anyone with a well-meaning heart and open mind, that’s who. Our

with individuals with disabilities. We’ll provide the training for your success.
What do NWSRA volunteers do?
Volunteers may work with an individual or a group to ensure they achieve
success in day camps, weekly programs, special events or park district
program inclusion.

Summer Catalog 2015
Rolling Meadows Park District Foundation
What We Do
We build and strengthen the financial resources of the Rolling Meadows Park District by receiving gifts, grants, bequests and endowments on the
district’s behalf. Contributions from individuals and businesses are used to improve or add to existing park projects or programs, or to help fund future
projects.
Financial Assistance (program scholarships)
This ongoing program helps people suffering financial hardship afford recreation activity fees. Many kids and adults would not be able to play baseball,
learn to swim, attend the day camp program, or stay active and connected if it wasn’t for this program.
Park & Facility Improvements
Adding amenities to parks and facilities adds enjoyment value for visitors, and enriches our community. Currently, trees are needed due to the effects
of the Emerald Ash Borer. Also needed are gifts for park benches, playground replacements, and enhancements to the Community Center and Nelson
Sports Complex.
Recreation Program Enrichment
Sports, gymnastics, dance, swim team, and any recreation program area can be improved with additional equipment, supplies, or staffing. These
enhancements make the programs more effective, more fun, or more meaningful for participants. They can also help keep registration fees lower,
allowing more people to join in.
Greening Initiatives
From energy efficiency to environmental restoration, additional funds are needed to help the park district “go green”, restore and protect natural
areas, and educate visitors. Financial gifts will help create a greener environment in our community.
How You Can Help
There are many ways you can support parks and recreation through the Rolling Meadows Park District Foundation. Financial gifts, bequests, or
volunteering your time are all wonderful ways to give back to the community.
Give a Lasting Gift to Your Community
When you make a gift to Rolling Meadows Park District Foundation, you are giving a lasting gift to your community. It’s a wonderful way to help
improve the parks and programs you know and love, and ensure they will be there for generations to come. If you’d like to discuss a gift or bequest for
a specific purpose, please contact us, and one of our members will be in touch soon.

Refunds
The Rolling Meadows Park District reserves the
right to cancel, postpone or combine classes or
change instructors. A full refund will be issued
for any program cancelled by the Park District.
If the class has begun, a pro-rated amount will
be determined based on the date of refund
application for injury, moving, schedule changes
and satisfaction issues. A doctor’s note must
accompany the refund request for injuries.
Requests will be honored until the last class
date of the session. Certain restrictions apply
to camp, pool, skating or fitness passes, sports
leagues, tickets to entertainment/sports events,
birthday parties, ice skating programs, room
rentals and contracted programs. Refunds for
trips and contractual programs will only be
issued if the spot can be filled from the waiting
list. Refunds will not be issued for classes that
participants are unable to attend. Refund
requests can be made by phone or in person.
Fees paid by credit cards will be refunded
through charge account credits. Refund check
processing takes 10-15 business days.
General information/Reciprocal Agreements
ADA Compliance
Rolling Meadows Park District complies with
the Americans with Disabilities Act, legislation
which prohibits discrimination on the basis
of a disability. Under the ADA, the Park
District makes reasonable accommodations in
recreation programs to enable participation
by an individual with a disability who meets
essential eligibility requirements for that leisure
program and facilities. The ADA, which took
effect in 1992, requires that recreation
programs offered by the Park District be
available in the most integrated setting
appropriate for each individual.
Insurance Disclaimer
The Rolling Meadows Park District does not
carry premises medical payments insurance
coverage. The Park District is a local public entity
and is subject to the Illinois Governmental and
Governmental Employees Tort Immunity Act
that provides certain immunities and defenses
to claims for damages made against local public
entities. Without these statutory immunities,
fees associated with recreational activities,
programs, properties and/or facilities could well
be prohibitive.
Waiver Forms Required
For insurance purposes, your signature
is required on the waiver portion of all
registrations. Please read the waiver in full
before signing. Registrations cannot be
processed without the waiver portion signed.
Additional waiver may be required for high risk
programs.
Residents & Non-Residents
The Rolling Meadows Park District is a
separate, tax supported agency apart from the
City of Rolling Meadows. This means that you
may have a City of Rolling Meadows address
but do not pay taxes to the Rolling Meadows
Park District. Therefore, all participants that
are non-taxpaying residents of the park district
may be required to pay an additional fee.
Non-Residents are welcome to join any Rolling
Meadows Park District program. A quick way
to determine your park district resident status
is to look at your tax bill; the park district that
you pay taxes to will be listed.
Receipts
Unless a receipt is requested at the time of dropoff registration, your receipt will be e-mailed if
you have given a valid email address.
Minimum & Maximum
All programs have a minimum and maximum
registration requirement. Please register early. If
you do not get into the class you have selected,
we will put your name on a waiting list and let
you know if a new class will be created or a spot
opens up.

Brochure Advertising
The Rolling Meadows Park District offers area businesses an opportunity to
place your four-color advertisement on the inside of our seasonal program
catalogs. The program catalog is delivered to over 8,000 homes three times
per year. An additional 2,000 copies of this informational program are
placed at our facilities providing residents and non residents with
information on programs, special events, camps, facilities and parks. This is
an excellent opportunity to get information about your business into every
home in Rolling Meadows. If you would like to place an ad, please contact:
Brittani Risinger, Marketing Supervisor, 847-818-3200, x230.
Deadlines for camera ready art, copy or photos will be provided.
Attention Parents/Guardians
Listed below are several safety guidelines the Park District encourages
parents/guardians to follow when dropping their child(ren) off at a Park
District program.
• Please escort children to and from the building, pool, field etc.
• Please take child directly into class or activity area.
• Please try to stay with child until the instructor arrives/begins the class.
On occasion an instructor may encounter an emergency or an unexpected
situation which causes them to be late or miss a class. If this occurs, the
instructor notifies the program supervisor as quickly as possible and the
supervisor addresses the situation as quickly as possible.
Important Class Cancellation Information
Please don’t wait until the last minute to register for a program. At some
point prior to the first class, we need to decide if the enrollment is sufficient
to hold the class. Typically ONE WEEK prior to the start of the program.
Signing up on the first day of class might be too late, so don’t hesitate.
Avoid the chance of losing your favorite class due to low enrollment. You
may find some programs/events in this catalog do have strict registration
deadlines. They will be listed separately. Register early!
Have You Moved Or Have Changed Information?
Transportation
We offer a variety of programs that are not held at a Rolling Meadows
Park District facility. Under each description in this brochure, it states as to
where the program/event is held. Transportation for these programs is not
provided, unless specified.
Recycling
You may not see recycle containers in our facilities and parks, but please
know that the waste management service we contract separates the
recyclable material from the solid waste at their state-of-the art facility.
For Your Safety...
The entrance/driveway into the Community Center is a “No Cell Phone
Zone” while operating a motor vehicle. Many young children are dropped
off at our preschool or use the playground near the entrance.
Thank you for your cooperation.
