Coaxial Winch
This Rockcrush winch system comprises
one 1 tonne winch and tethered pendant
control system. The hydraulics allow “highlow” operation: high line speed at low line
pull or low line speed at high line pull.
The winch is equipped with Archimedes
screw wire feeder to automatically maintain
proper spooling of the wire on and off the
winch drum.

Dredge
The C series Rockcrush Dredger range has been
specifically developed to meet the requirements
of the mining industry. These dredgers operate
under very harsh conditions and are structurally
reinforced to enable operations staff to drag the
dredgers from slurry and settling ponds onto the
surrounding hard rock embankments either for
maintenance purposes or recovery from blast
areas. These dredgers come in three frame sizes,
1500, 1200 and 1000, and input power ranges from
100 kW (130 HP) to 600 kW (800 HP).

UNDERLYING DESIGN PRINCIPLES
Operation
»» Simplistic but efficient
»» Safe
»» One-man operation,
operator friendly
Structure
»» Engineered to sustain performance
»» Modular sections to enable quick
disassembly, transportation
and assembly
»» Hulls comply with USL code
Components
»» Selected to ensure performance
»» Serviceable
»» Readily available spare parts
through associate agreements
with manufacturers, i.e. Caterpillar
The bottom hull plate on the pontoons of C series
dredgers are twice as thick as that of the standard
dredgers to prevent damage by sharp objects.
The design is a three-piece modular dredger with
each module being truckable. Two side pontoons
required for floatation and stability, and one centre
pontoon housing the engine room, fuel and oil
tanks and operators cabin. The design enables quick
dismantling and assembly for transportation. The
assembled unit may be transported short distances
on a low bed vehicle.
Traditional keel cooling has been removed from
these dredgers reducing the damage risk to cooling
tubes during skid removal of the dredgers from
ponds. Cooling of the main engine and hydraulic
oils are achieved through air coolers fitted in the
engine room.

The 250 Series Booster Station is a self-contained
diesel driven slurry pump booster. This is located
in the discharge line between the dredge pump
and discharge point. The booster pump adds head
pressure (energy) to the dredge system so that
maximum production can be maintained as the
pipeline is extended.

A range of Rockcrush cutting heads are available for
these dredgers. The standard disc cutter range has
been developed over 35 years to offer a versatile
hardwearing cutter capable of dredging materials in
sand, clay and rock shale.
This range of dredger offers management further
cost benefits through operational staff number
reductions. Being a fully computerised electro/
hydraulic control system with radio telemetry
communication and controls, management have
access to data recording and reports on daily/hourly
operational achievements.
