Here’s a recipe for success! Take a handful of traditional & non-traditional media and methods, add a dash of
your own creativity, mix with an open mind, and the results?... Mixed media, well done!
Explore this wonderful medium and learn the multi-cultural ways in which it is common. Students will create imaginative three-dimensional works of art in papier maché, using paint, tissue paper and recycled materials. Among
the projects we will explore are African masks, Aboriginal rain sticks and Mexican piñatas! Come and enjoy the
fun!
Have fun while learning to develop your drawing & painting skills. Become familiar with the elements of basic
drawing, observation, perspective & composition, as well as color mixing & watercolor techniques. Plein air
drawing & painting methods will be used with beautiful Rockport as your outdoor studio.
Join us and see the world! Explore the cultures of five different countries. Experience the music, folklore and arts &
crafts of world cultures through painting, printmaking, fabric arts, clay and other materials used by each country
we study. Passports not required!
August
Inspired by the glass artist Dale Chihuly, young artists will discover creating shapes and forms. Using a variety of
objects: clay, plastics, fused sea glass, paint, etc., we will compare how similar forms are expressed using different
mediums. Working from forms in nature, we will morph these forms into an underwater garden scene. We will
also explore transitioning from 2-D to 3-D art.
Have fun while learning to develop your drawing & painting skills. Become familiar with the elements of basic

drawing & painting methods will be used with beautiful Rockport as your outdoor studio.
Create your very own cartoon! Students will select a format, decide a story type and design a character showing
action, lighting & stagecraft. With the focus on narrative, students will complete their stories in page or strip form
– accompanied by a poster of their characters.
