 To Whom It May Concern:
The Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center of Orange County (WWCC) will be holding it’s 7th Annual Baby
Shower Charity Event on Saturday, May 16, 2015. This event is a crucial fundraising opportunity for the
center in order for us to maintain the high level of care that we provide to local sick, injured, and orphaned
wildlife. WWCC is a California 501(c)3 registered non-profit and the tax-deductible donations we receive
through this event are imperative to our rehabilitation success. WWCC would like to request your support
for our Baby Shower Event this year.
WWCC began in 1998 as a response to a 400,000 gallon oil spill that affected over 1,200 birds in
Huntington Beach. Today the Center is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. WWCC receives
approximately 2,800 animals each year and we are dedicated to each individual animal’s care and hopefully
their ultimate release back into the wild. In addition to rehabilitation the center has a secondary mission to
educate the general public about the best way for humans and wildlife to coexist in an urban environment.
Education is crucial for WWCC, because it is our best method for active prevention, instead of inactive
reaction. Along with being our largest fundraising event, the Baby Shower is our best avenue for public
outreach.
Through community outreach and educational programs, we are able to include members in the success of
the local improvement of the environment. This event provides beneficial, positive exposure for local
businesses and corporations to join the community and support a local non-profit.
The WWCC is typically not open to the general public, only trained volunteers, however the Baby Shower
allows the public for an inside look at the Center. It is a very special day where local wildlife in the process
of rehabilitation is on display. The Baby Shower includes games, an opportunity drawing, arts and crafts,
and a slideshow.
Through contributions from volunteers, individual members, and companies like yours, WWCC can
continue to support the rehabilitation and release of native wildlife. We respectfully request a contribution
to our non-profit to assist us in our continued support of local wildlife and education of the public. We are
also proud to invite you to our Baby Shower Event at the WWCC this May 16, 2015.
