1. AGM:
The annual general meeting will be held Thursday July 30, 7p.m. at the
Jaffray Community Centre. Many of us host guests during the long weekend
and are very busy. The last week of July and the first week of August
typically see the largest population at the lake. The best compromise is to
hold the meeting just before the long weekend. Our community includes
everyone in the Rosen Lake drainage basin.
2. Snow Pack and River Flow Forecasts
The past winter has indeed been warmer and drier than average. According
to the BC River Forecast Centre, the East Kootenay snowpack was 76% of
normal. The link below provides additional information regarding
expected river flows.

3. May 2015 Fire Danger Rating for the Area
The following link will be useful for future fire bans and fire danger ratings.
http://bcwildfire.ca/Weather/Maps/danger_rating.htm
At this writing, fire danger is moderate and there are no fire bans in place.
Low snow pack and the lack of precipitation so far this spring have created
unusually dry conditions in this area.
Forest Fires: 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 (cell)
4. ORV Registration Mandatory as of June 1, 2015
See the link below for information on how and where to register your

Construction on the non-motorized trail from Cranbrook to Wardner is
underway. On April 18, volunteers gathered at the Rampart rest stop 10 km
south of Cranbrook to work on the trail. The goal was to install a kiosk,
some fence posts and a cattle guard. Four hours later, thanks to the many
volunteers, the work was accomplished. Portions of the trail are now open.
This year, Phase 2 is underway which includes Wardner to Ha Ha Creek
Road, Steamboat Hill bypass and Mayook bypass. (Trails B.C. / Trans Canada
Trail, 2014)
According to Al Skucas, work on the Mayook segment this year will be
labour intensive and volunteers will get more chances to contribute.
Please visit the Facebook site above for additional information.

Rosen Lake Traditions (A brief review)
(In other words, Lake Traditions that work, some supported by law, others just common
sense)
Please share this information with all persons who enjoy water recreation while at
your property.
Enjoying Rosen Lake should be a safe and relaxing experience for all residents
and visitors.
Rosen Lake Watercraft Traditions
1.
All Watercraft should be inspected for weeds and debris before entering the lake.
2.
All motorized Watercraft must travel counter-clockwise.
3.
All motorized Watercraft, including those towing skiers, tubers, etc. must enter
the stream of traffic only when clear and safe to do so and only then at an angle
that allows the Watercraft to immediately be going counter-clockwise.
4.
Use of all motorized Watercraft at anything more than idle speed should be
restricted to the hours between 10 AM and 8 PM.
5.
All users of Rosen Lake are encouraged to use discretion and good judgement to
moderate their activities appropriate to the volume of activity on the lake. Be
considerate, share the lake and be careful!
6.
Do not tow skiers or tubes, nor race at high speeds close to the shore. Federal
guide-lines prohibit this.
7.
All Watercraft are responsible and liable for their wake.
8.
Do not harass the wildlife or harm their sanctuaries. They have rights protected
by law.
Note: The operation of a pleasure craft is subject to several sets of legislation. A complete list of rules and
regulations can be found at:
http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/marinesafety/tp-tp511-menu-487.htm
PLEASE USE CAUTION, COURTESY AND GOOD JUDGEMENT.

Boat Launches
Two boat launches are available. The launches are designed and maintained for the
self-described purpose only. DO NOT use the launches for any other purpose.
Fire Access
There are four developed fire accesses. These are designed to allow emergency fire
vehicles access to the lake. At no time are they to be blocked or used for other
purposes than intended.
This includes the two boat launches and the ends of Rosen Lake Road East and Rosen
Lake Road West.
This information is provided by the Rosen Lake Ratepayers Association for reference
only. “The Association” does not hold jurisdiction over and/or cannot be held
responsible for those who participate, at their own risk, in recreational activities in the
greater Rosen Lake area.
7.
Improvements to the Public Access
Last fall, the RDEK installed barriers and rocks to help reduce erosion on the
public access site on the east side of the lake. New picnic tables and a bear
proof trash receptacle were added. The area was seeded and path created
to the shore.
8.

One of the many reasons Rosen Lake is such a great place is that people take care for
their community. Simple acts such as picking up litter, maintaining the trail around the
lake or plowing a skating strip around the lake for skaters go a long way to make Rosen
what it is. Thank you once again to Motion Steel for donating materials and time towards
making dam maintenance safer.
See you at the Annual General Meeting
