The physical removal of books from a school is very telling about the current climate of our campus and the direction it’s headed in. The library is an essential part of our education, its just that simple. The idea of relocating one of our greatest resources off campus, effectively making the books and other media invisible and more difficult if not impossible to access, is wrong....We need more communication between the administration and the students about the rapidly changing structure of our school, more respect for the hard-working and extremely valuable full-time and adjunct faculty, and a more vocal student body to keep things in check. You don’t need an Arts Degree to be an artist, its a professional move that should be treated as such. We’re coming from a place of confusion, maybe a place of quieted anger because we feel impending loss headed our way, but most of all we’re coming from a place of love for what we do. Ask any creative person about their practice or what motivates them and its going to lead you directly to a publication, books or otherwise. Don’t take that away from us.” -Brandon James Patrick Photo credit: Michelle Park and Gian Dionisio VISIT THE EXHIBITION: Grand Depository Now on display: APRIL 13-25TH Gallery Hours: Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm Location: Helen Lindhurst Fine Arts Gallery Watt hall 104,university park campus Los Angeles, california 90089 For PRESS & MEDIA Related Questions, Please contact: Regina Chung [email protected] Michelle Park [email protected] https://www.facebook.com/events/1642358252658862/ http://granddepository.tumblr.com/
