Russian Helicopters to showcase commercial and military helicopters at
LIMA 2015 in Malaysia
Moscow / 17 March 2015
Russian Helicopters, part of State Corporation Rostec, will showcase its latest developments at
the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition, LIMA 2015, which will be held
on Malaysia’s Langkawi island from 17 to 21 March.
Russian Helicopters will display its multirole Mi-171A2 and Ansat helicopters at LIMA-2015.
Military models will also be centre-stage: together with Rosoboronexport, Russian Helicopters
will showcase Mi-35M, Mi-171Sh, and Mi-17V-5 helicopters for representatives of the law
enforcement agencies in Malaysia and other countries of South East Asia.
Today, Russian-made helicopters are operated in over 100 countries in the world, including
many in the Asia Pacific region. In total, about 1,500 medium and light Russian-made
helicopters are operated in the region.
“Countries in the Asia-Pacific region are experiencing dynamic economic development. Demand
for helicopters in the region is constantly growing. Our company is interested in this region and
is eager to expand its presence here,” said Russian Helicopters CEO Alexander Mikheev. “At
LIMA 2015, we will showcase the latest Russian-made commercial helicopters that are most
relevant, in particular to countries across South East Asia. We are seeing interest in these
models among our potential partners, and hope to develop mutually beneficial cooperation.”
The new Mi-171A2 is a medium helicopter built using the latest technologies and engineering
solutions. It is a reliable and safe aircraft that sets new standards for medium-class helicopters
worldwide. The Mi-171A2 is currently undergoing the final stages of testing. It is part of the
legendary Mi-8/17 series of helicopters.
Participants in and visitors to LIMA 2015 will also have the opportunity to learn more about the
Ansat light helicopter. The Ansat is one of the most in-demand models in its class of helicopters
with lift capacity of up to one and a half tonnes and has been the subject of great interest from
public- and private-sector bodies in Malaysia. The helicopter has the most spacious cabin in its
class, and its configuration can be changed depending on its designated purpose. The Ansat
can be used for passenger flights (including VIP class) as well as hauling cargo, and can also
be deployed on police operations or to fly search-and-rescue and medevac missions.
