Thanks to the attendees at this year’s Golden Apple Awards on
March 26 at the McKenna Center in New Braunfels, Texas. We
had 325 attendees and a great time seeing you outside of the
Food Bank. Thanks to the SAFB Community Kitchen for a delicious
dinner! We heard from Tess Coody-Anders, CEO of Resolute
Health on how health and poverty are directly related; a fact
many of you see in your work with your clients and customers.
Congratulations are in order for our 2015 Golden Apple Award
winners. Check out the list and photos from the event inside the
newsletter!

Agency Express ANNIVERSARY!
April 1, 2015 marked one full year of all agencies using Agency Express for our
online ordering system. For those of you who have worked with us for many years,
you know how exciting it is to celebrate this ONE YEAR anniversary! For those of you
who are new, just be assured this is a great improvement from past ordering
systems.
Starting May 1, you will see a few improvements to the order system, although no
major changes: the name of the company has changed to TechBridge, so you will no
longer see AidMatrix but instead TechBridge; and the order of the drop down menu
under the Order Options tab will change, but all choices remain the same. We
continue to take suggestions so that we can improve this system. The San Antonio
Food Bank has a great
relationship with TechBridge
and we look forward to
future improvements.

Advocacy
The America Gives More Act (HR 644) has
already passed the House, and we need
the Senate to take action. This bill would
expand the food donation tax deduction to
farmers, ranchers, and small businesses,
and make it permanent, which will result in
millions of pounds of nutritious food that
may otherwise go to waste. Simply submit
your organization's information to urge
Congress to action.

Benefits of Bread Delivery By Sharon Sadlon, King of Kings
King of Kings Lutheran Church Food Pantry has been receiving a special weekly visit from the
Food Bank, in addition to our weekly pickup at the Food Bank. We are now on the Bread Drop
program and have been very pleased with the amount and diversity of products we are
receiving for our clients. We receive the delivery the day before our pantry is open.
Our pantry serves 120 families a week and we have been able to provide everyone with
bread, rolls or tortillas each week. Additionally, we receive and distribute fresh vegetables and
fruit from the area stores.
Clients have expressed great pleasure in the
additional food. In more than one instance, we have
been told “it’s my birthday and now I have cake, or
it’s my child’s birthday, now I can have a party.”
We are very happy to sort and offer this food to our
clients as a supplement to our Food Bank orders and
store shopping.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE ADDED TO OUR WAITLIST
FOR THIS PROGRAM, PLEASE CHECK OUT OUR RETAIL
ROUTE INFORMATION PACKET.
