2015 SJES Elementary Summer Camp Overview The mission of Saint James’ Episcopal School Summer Camp is to create fun, exciting and adventurous experiences in which children can discover and learn. Our elementary summer program provides camp opportunities for children ages 6-11. This will include all rising first through sixth grade students. Please see information on schedule and note there are age-specific camps. Registration Procedures and Requirements Complete the accompanied enrollment form with your camp choices and return it to the School with your payment. Make checks payable to SJES and drop off or mail to Saint James’ Episcopal School, Attention: Summer Camps, 73 Culpeper Street, Warrenton, VA 20186. All registrations need to be completed within 7 days prior to camp start dates. If you are registering with less than this requirement, please call the School Office at 540-347-3855 or email Karen Anderson, the Camp Coordinator ([email protected]) prior to completing your registration. As registrations are received, space confirmation will be sent to parents via email. Registrations are received on a first come first serve basis. All SJES camps have minimum and maximum enrollment requirements. There is a 5 student minimum in order to hold a camp. This minimum must be met within 7 days prior to the first day of camp. If the minimum is not met, you will be notified of the cancelation and all monies will be reimbursed. If your registration is received after a camp has been filled, you will be notified and your child will be placed on a wait list. Camp Details Campers will need to bring a snack and drink each day. Each camper should also bring a water bottle to help keep hydrated during the camp day. SJES campus is peanut and tree-nut sensitive and we ask all campers to refrain from bringing in food that contain nuts or is processed in facilities that may contain or exposed to nuts. All allergy and food restrictions must be noted in the space provided on the registration form and will be addressed in detail after the registration process is complete. SJES Camps are taught by loving SJES staff members as well as staff from partnering companies. This summer we are pleased to offer camps that are hosted by our longtime friends at Sports Academy of Manassas and Little Scholars. Camps hosted by these companies are clearly marked on the registration form. SJES staff will be present and of assistance to these companies and their certified staff members while hosting camps at our facility. Before Camp and After Camp Care We are pleased to offer an extended day program for campers. All ages are welcome. Before and After Camp Care at SJES is one program for both preschool and elementary students. Our Before Camp Care begins at 8AM. Children will do small group activities and have free play during Before Camp Care. After Camp Care runs from 12PM - 3PM. Children who stay for After Camp Care will need to bring a bagged lunch and drink. Children age 5 and under are required by the Virginia Department of Social Services to have rest time. Rest time will be after lunch from 1:00 -1:30PM. Children age 6 and above can bring their summer reading books to read during this time. After lunch and rest time, children in After Camp Care will have group activity time, play games, and have free play time. 2015 Elementary Summer Camps for Ages 5-7 Sports Camp Hosted by Soccer Academy of Manassas June 1 – June 5 9AM – 12PM Cost: $155 Ages 6 - 7 Sports camp is designed to be full of fun, fitness and friendship. We will be featuring 5 days of sports which children will be introduced to concepts and skills to play basketball, baseball, soccer, flag football, dodgeball, and more. Each day children will practice skills they learn and apply them in games. Krafty Kids Art Camp I Hosted by Little Scholars June 8 – June 12 9AM – 12PM Cost: $155 Ages 6-7 This art camp is designed for those who love to paint, craft and create. We will create one-of-a-kind masterpieces, explore with watercolors and get in touch with our inner artist. Children will be able to express their own personalities with personalized pieces and they will come away from this camp with many treasured mementos. Under the Big Top Circus Camp June 15 – June 19 9AM – 12PM Cost: $155 Ages 4-7 (rising PreK through rising 1st grade) Come join us as we go under the Big Top. Children will be participating in circus-themed games and activities like walking the tightropes, jumping through fiery hoops, and painting silly faces. The week promises to be silly, fun and action packed. Don’t miss the circus parade finale! Amazing Adventures Camp Hosted by Little Scholars June 22 – June 26 9AM – 12PM Cost: $155 Ages 6-7 Attention all amazing kids, we are going to take you on an adventure! We will fill your camp day with airplanes, pirates, secret codes, and many more amazing activities. Don’t miss out on our daily challenges! Not only will you have an amazing time, but you will sharpen your reasoning skills, increase processing speed, and broaden your creative mind. Frozen in July Camp July 13 – July 17 9AM – 12PM Cost: $155 Ages 4-7 (rising preK through 1st grade students) Skate into Arrendel with us and embark on a snowy adventure! We will play games with snowballs, make a snowman, paint with ice, and much more. Our adventures with Frozen will include dress up, arts and crafts, games and lots of fun activities. Perfect for every Frozen fan boys and girls alike! Lego Builders Camp Hosted by Little Scholars July 20 – Jul 24 9AM -12PM Cost: $155 Ages 6-7 Calling all inventors, creators, builders and designers…. come and build some amazing creations with us! Children will create their own designs and make structures using Legos, recycled materials, and many other interesting items. So much fun to be had and many skills to gain: communication, problem solving, reasoning, creative development and team work. (NOTE: This camp uses gumdrops, mint Lifesavers and marshmallows.) Farm Camp June 1 – June 5 9AM – 2PM Cost: $200 Ages 8 – 11 2015 Elementary Summer Camps for Ages 8-11 SJES is partnering with Rebecca Snyder, owner and youth instructor at Juncohill Farm in Warrenton. This camp will provide students an opportunity to spend their camp day off our school campus and on the Snyder’s farm located 8 miles from the School. Campers will learn about farm and animal life; planting and growing; pond, stream and river life; and forest ecology. Parents must drop off and pick up at the farm. Science of Play Camp June 8 – June 12 9AM – 12PM Cost: $155 Ages 8 – 11 Join us as we learn about the science behind toys and activities we enjoy. We will learn how to design and make our own kaleidoscopes, Chinese jump ropes, hop scotch mats, rubber band balls, and much more. Children will have fun creating and testing these toys while learning scientific methods involved in their creations. Krafty Kids Art Camp II Hosted by Little Scholars June 15 – June 19 9AM – 12PM Cost: $155 Ages 8 - 11 This art camp is designed for those who love to paint, craft and create. Wizards Camp Hosted by Little Scholars June 22 – June 26 9AM – 12PM Cost: $155 Ages 8-11 Calling all wizard fans! This is like no other camp you have ever experienced. We will take you on a magical journey into the world of wizards. We will design trading cards, make a personal crest, create a treasure hunt, have a Triwizard tournament, and even do some activities that will astound all Muggles. Comic Creations Camp Hosted by Little Scholars July 13 – July 17 9AM – 12PM Cost: $155 Ages 8-11 Do you have a knack for drawing? Do you like to write? Then we have the summer camp for you! Come join us as we explore the world of comics. We will learn the different styles of cartooning, create new characters, and build a portfolio of your work. Colonial Camp July 20 – July 24 9AM – 12PM Cost: $155 Ages 8-11 Join us as we step back in time to Colonial days! Campers will experience life as it was in Colonial times. We will make our own bird feeders, baskets, butter, candles, and much more. There will be Colonial games and activities to learn and play. (NOTE: Hammers, sandpaper and nails will be used as well as heavy cream.)
