Saint John the Evangelist
“God does not ask for our ability, or our inability,
but our availability!”
... Our Palm Sunday celebration today (29) recalls
the joyful entrance of Christ the Lord into Jerusalem to accomplish his Paschal Mystery.
... Holy Week is not to be missed! The great
Easter Triduum begins with the Mass of the Lord’s
Supper on Holy Thursday (2) and concludes at sunset on Easter Sunday (5). It is one big festival, and
the highlight of the liturgical year!
... On Holy Thursday (2), we celebrate the Mass of
the Lord’s Supper at 7:00pm, with the presentation
of the Holy Oils and the Washing of the Feet.
... Our Holy Oils, to be used in our sacramental
celebrations this coming year, were blessed at the
Diocesan Chrism Mass on Thursday (26), at Good
Shepherd Church, and will be presented at our Mass
of the Lord’s Supper this Thursday (2).
... On Good Friday (3), we celebrate the Lord’s
Passion at 5:00pm and 7:00pm (in Spanish). Each
celebration includes the proclamation of the Passion of the Lord, the Veneration of the Cross, and the
reception of Holy Communion. We are encouraged
to observe both fast and abstinence!
... Throughout the world, on Good Friday (3), a
special collection is taken up to help support the
Christian communities and maintain shrines in the
Holy Land of our Lord’s birth, agony, death and resurrection. Today, more than ever, they are in need
of our prayer and financial support! Please plan to
give generously.
... On Holy Saturday (4), our Easter Vigil begins at
8:00pm, and will include the celebration of Light,
the great Easter proclamation, the telling of the history of salvation, the baptism and initiation of our
catechumens, and the celebration of the Eucharist!
... Be sure to keep in your prayer this week all who
will celebrate the Sacraments with us for the first
time at the Easter Vigil.
... Next weekend, invite a neighbor or friend to our
Easter Sunday (5) celebrations at 7:30am, 9:00am,
10:30am, 12:00pm (Spanish) and 5:00pm!
... Thursday (2) marks the 10th Anniversary of the
death of Saint John Paul II. Resting in peace!
... Our Annual Catholic Appeal lends support to
the many and varied ministries of our own Diocese.
Pledge forms and brochures have been mailed to
every family, and are also available at the back of
the church. Please make a pledge today!

espalda a Jesús.
comporta
proféticamente y de
un modo que los
otros discípulos aún
no comprenden.
