Registration
Once again I must bring up the
subject of registering your child for
this coming 2015-2016 school year.
Many parents have still not
registered their child yet, but have
told either their teacher or Mrs.
Pompetti their child will definitely
be returning. That 's great, but we

Home & School
Association
As the school year comes to a
close quickly, I want to say
THANK YOU! to the
individuals who volunteered
and helped out with all of the
events the Home and School
Association organized
throughout the year! As some
of you already know, this is my
last year as President of the
Home and School
Association. I will be passing
the baton on to Claire
Baggessen who I know will
bring a fresh approach and
new ideas to this organization!
I want to appeal to the families
of the younger students to
please get involved next year!
You now have a year or two of
experience with the events we
organize for the benefit of the
school and the kids. Please
consider how you can help
next year. The events that the
HSA organizes are put
together by a very small group
of people who all have full time
jobs. If more people get
involved, our events will be
better and we can put St. Paul
School on the map, which will
only strengthen our school and
our community! As I’ve said
before, these few years in
elementary school are a small
window of time! Get involved
now!
I also want to congratulate the
eighth graders for their
achievements and wish you all
the best of luck in your future
endeavors!
Have a great summer!

May was blooming with
learning. We learned about
flowers and bugs.
We
watched all of our plants
grow so high and then we
were excited to take our
vacation!
Bonjour from Paris! The
children did very well on
the flight to France; they
went through security and
had their tickets and
passports checked. When
we arrived in France, we
visited the Louvre, the
Eiffel Tower, and the
Gardens
and
walked
through the streets of
Paris.
We also got to
participate in the waiter’s
race on Bastille Day, make
croissants at the local café
and ride in the Tour de
France.
The children
enjoyed learning about
Madeline and many other
stories that were set in
France.
We were sad to leave, but
we needed to get back so we
could start practicing for
our celebration.
We are
looking forward to June
and all of the excitement
that comes with the end of

K A & B News
May has flown by, but has
been a productive and
exciting
month
in
Kindergarten! We began
the month by tracking the
growth of our chicks inside
their eggs. On May 20th,
we welcomed 15 adorable
chicks into our classrooms!
We loved watching them
grow and we look forward
to visiting them at Casey
Farm on Monday!
Our annual Walk-a-Thon
was a huge success this
year! Thank you for all of
your donations and for
those who walked with us!
Our students had a blast!
We were extremely proud of
all our wonderful singers
and dancers at the Spring
Concert. Everyone did a
fabulous job! We began

Grade 1 News
Last week we let our
Painted Lady butterflies
go! The class seemed to
really enjoy watching our
caterpillars
grow
and
change and it was good
a learning experience for
all. This week we began
our ocean unit and next
week we will begin learning
some fun facts about Rhode
Island. We might also
sample some favorite RI
foods like Del’s lemonade,
pizza strips and coffee milk.
As you know, we are
finishing up our Reading
Street Series for this school
year with a biography of
Ben Franklin when he was
ten years old. We'll follow
this up by making our own
kites next week. Since this
was such a busy week, we
will move our reading and
spelling
tests
to next
Tuesday. After that we
will complete the Unit 5
Benchmark Test - the last
one of the school year!
In
Math,
we've
been
working on money and
time. We will also begin
working on measurement
and two digit addition and
subtraction in the weeks
ahead. Don't forget to
continue practicing addition
and subtraction facts with
your child this summer and
keep reading too!
And finally, since this may
be our last newsletter for
this school year, I want to
thank you for all your help
and cooperation throughout
the year. Your first graders
have grown and matured so
much
this
year
and
I'm very proud of them as I

to second grade. It was my
pleasure to be your child's
first grade teacher.
Grade 2 News
Second grade has worked
very hard this year and I
am so pleased with their
participation
and
involvement! You should be
very proud of them! In
Reading, we are finishing
Unit 6 and reviewing
grammar skills.
In Writing, we are working
on our persuasive letters to
Mrs. Freitas. The students
will need to convince Mrs.
Freitas
that
they
are indeed ready for third
grade. We are planning a
special
Flag
Day celebration
in
our
classroom
for Friday,
June 12th. The
students
will be asked to wear their
red, white, and blue that
day.
We
will
also
have activities and a
special treat! In Math, we
will be finishing up our
review on Place Value and
Adding/Subtracting Three
Digit Numbers. I know my
class is looking forward to
hosting the last school
liturgy on Friday, June 5th
at 9am. Please note that all
are welcome to attend. The
class has been working
hard preparing for this
special event.
In the
next few weeks, our class
will be visiting the William
Hall Library for a special
read aloud and going to the
Rhodes Playground. During
the summer, please have
your child review their
reading and math skills. It
will be helpful in their
transition to third grade.
Thanks again you for
all you do especially all the
support and special gifts
throughout the school year!
Have a wonderful summer!
God bless!

We completed our unit 8
vocabulary and spelling

unit 9. We also have
finished our trip to ancient
Egypt and are moving on to
more modern times with
the American Revolution.
We are about half way
through "The Egyptian

so we will probably be able
to fit in one more story in
literature.
We
will
continue
to
practice
multiplication, division and
word problems and will
soon be wrapping up our
study of geometry. When
we do, we'll do a little work
with fractions. In science
we are learning about
position, motion and speed.
Some of it will be book
work, but we will also be
doing some experiments.
As you can see our last
three weeks of school will
be
very
busy
and
productive. Thank you for
your support this past
school year and have a
great summer!
We will be planting our
green bean seeds towards
the end of this week. We do
so in a clear plastic cup so
we can observe the seeds'
germination. In math, we
continue to practice our
addition,
subtraction,
multiplication and division,
as well as congruent figures
and motion. I'm pleased to
report that the third
graders are finally getting
the hang of solving word
