After a long, cold, wet winter, it
seems Spring has finally arrived!!
How lovely to look out and see all
the colorful blossoms on the trees!
Spring always reminds me of new
beginnings.
March was a busy month for the
SAWA. The Disaster Training was
very well received with many members and several husbands participating.
Several of us had the opportunity to visit Kroc
Center, Fuqua Boys and Girls Club, Red Shield
and the ARC all in one day. I strongly encourage all of you to take advantage of this opportunity the next time it is offered. I know you will feel
good about all the many ways the Salvation
Army serves in the Metro area.
Our March meeting at Booth Towers was very
popular with 29 in attendance on a rainy day.
We had a most informative meeting about the
facility and tours of two of the apartments.
The Nominating Committee has come up with an
outstanding slate of officers for you to consider.
We will vote on this at the April meeting.
April promises to be another busy month especially with our meeting on April 16th at the Command Center. We will be packing hygiene kits
for “Veterans on the Move” and toiletry bags for
“Project Homeless Connect”. Many hands will
make the project fun. This is a great opportunity
to invite your friends.
So in this season of new beginnings, please
know what a joy it is serving with you in this organization that touches so many lives.

of the apartments.
What a great meeting!

possible.
Advisory Board School of Excellence
Two of our SAWA ladies, Dawn Menear and Winnie Concevitch, attended the
Advisory Board School of Excellence on March 23rd at Camp Grandview.

Army and provide publicity and marketing advice and assistance.
The classes were motivating and inspiring and the information will be helpful in

Did you know that volunteer hours include

as food, gifts, party favors, supplies/equipment, or anything needed for any SAWA event. This should also
include any travel time involved.
* Time spent shopping for and obtaining items that you
donate (such as requested toiletries for Haven ATL,
requested Christmas items, requested items for special
events, fund raisers, etc). This should also include any
travel time involved.
As of April 1, 2015
The SA and SAWA reimbursement
procedures have changed.
* Preparation time - time spent cooking and preparing
food, wrapping gifts, bagging or packaging things like
party favors and gifts for birthday parties at ARC, Red
Shield, Booth Towers, etc.
When you make any authorized purchase for a SAWA

SPECIAL TOUR OF THE SALVATION ARMY FACILITIES
On Friday, 03/13/2015, several of the SAWA Ladies enjoyed a special
tour of The Salvation Army Facilities , including the Kroc Community Center, The Fuqua Boys and
Girls Club, the Red Shield Shelter, and the Adult Rehabilitation Center.
Our group was small due to the weather, but the tour was terrific and very informative.

Project Homeless Connect
Sign up now to assist with Birthday parties for the children at Red
Shield on the 2nd Saturday of each month.

August 8th, Sept 12th from 1:00 - 2:30 pm. Please go ahead
and sign up for these in advance. Contact Linda Lakshas.
SAWA volunteers provide gifts for the children who are celebrating
birthdays, prepare “goodie bags” for the rest of the children, and then
assist with the party and enjoy games and crafts with them. This is a
lot of fun. The children are precious and appreciate this so much.

GA. For those who took the first two classes on March 3rd,
including the husbands, this is the third in the introductory
