Fence Voltage Alarm Product Manual

G562 Fence Voltage Alarm (FVA) User Instructions
FEATURES AND OPERATION
If the Power FenceTM voltage drops below the selected FVA trigger voltage on the Trigger Voltage Level rotary dial the unit will
go into alarm.

FENCE OK and FENCE ALARM Indicator
The green LED is the FENCE OK and FENCE ALARM indicator. During normal operation, this indicator will flash when the FVA
receives an acceptable Power Fence™ voltage. If the fence voltage falls below the FVA trigger voltage for longer than the alarm
delay time the FVA will go into alarm and the green LED will turn on continuously. This is reset (switched OFF) by switching the
Main Switch OFF then back to the desired mode.

Relay #1 Operation.
Relay #1 can function in two modes. These modes are set by the Main Switch.
Timed Mimic mode activates relay #1 for the desired alarm time or until the Power Fence™ voltage increases above the FVA
trigger voltage.
Timed Latch mode latches or holds ON relay #1 for the desired alarm time regardless of fence condition.

Relay #2 Operation
Relay #2 is intended to operate a suitable non-intrusive alarm e.g. a light or strobe. During the alarm condition the relay will
latch ON continuously. Relay #2 can only be reset by switching the Main Switch to OFF, then back to the desired mode.

Output Options
The FVA output relays normally supply power from the battery but can be changed to “dry contacts”. With powered contacts,
the 12V battery supply is supplied to the relay contacts - this can be used to power 12V sirens or lights directly from the FVA.
If set for Dry contacts, the contacts are isolated from all other circuits and can be used to connect to other equipment such as
alarm panels or autodiallers.

Low Battery Indicator
The red LED indicator will turn on if both the Energizer Battery and the Back-up Battery require recharging.
OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES

G564 siren/light unit
The G564 Siren is a self contained siren/light that will connect directly to the FVA. After the alarm time has elapsed, the Siren
will automatically turn off, however the G564 light will remain on continuously. To install, simply connect the G564
3-way connector to the 3-way socket on the FVA. The G564 is supplied with 5 metres of cable, allowing it to be mounted in a
variety of positions.
INTERNAL SETTINGS AND OPTIONS

Changing from Powered to Dry Contacts
- Remove the FVA outer cover and cut links LN7, LN5, LN4 and LN2. These are highlighted on the diagram below
- Carefully remove the Red, Green and Black leadset from the QC tabs.
- Remove the circuit board from the base.
- Loosen the cable clamp screws and remove the leadset.
- Feed new alarm wires through the cable clamp and connect to the relay #1 and #2 connections
- Tighten cable clamp, replace circuit board and outer cover.
ATTENTION :
The FVA is supplied with Powered Contacts as default.
Relays #1 and #2 can operate as either powered or dry contacts - it is not possible to mix operation.
Always replace the enclosure cover before switching on the FVA as its operation can be affected by
high ambient light levels.

Changing the FVA trigger voltage level. FVA trigger voltage settings can be set by rotating the Trigger Voltage Level
rotary dial on the face of the FVA unit to the desired level .

Changing the Alarm delay time
Alarm delay time settings can be set to 3 sec., 5 sec., 15 sec., or 3 min. by DIP switch SW2. Default = 5 sec.

Changing the Alarm Time
The Alarm Time can be set to between 10 sec. to 12 min. by adjusting trimpot R27. Default = 12 min.
SPECIFICATIONS
Operating Voltage :
12 VDC nominal, 16 VDC max.
Warning - even momentary voltages greater than 16V DC may damage equipment. Use a regulated DC supply and protect
from transients. Do not connect an AC voltage.
Low Battery Indication :
11-11.5 volts
Supply Current (typical) :
Standby
15 mA
Alarm
100 mA (excludes external devices
powered by relays)
Supply Fuse (F3):
1A
Warning - replace with a standard (fast blow) fuse. Do not use a slow-blow or delayed action fuse.
Note - a fuse blowing may indicate a supply voltage greater than 16V DC (e.g. a power supply transient).
FVA Trigger Voltage Options :

3 kV
High.
4 kV
Alarm Delay Time Options:

3 minutes  30 sec.
Alarm Time Relay #1:
10 sec. - 12 min. (default 12 min.)
Alarm Time Relay #2:
continuous until turned off
Relay #1 and #2 Contact Ratings :
24 VDC, Fused at 1 amp (F1, F2)
Important note: High levels of ambient light on the internal module can affect the operation of the FVA.
