Amman Imman: Water is Life
A Walk for Water
A WALK FOR CHILDREN — BY CHILDREN
March 2015
Dear Potential Sponsor,
The 2015 A Walk for Water, hosted by Amman Imman: Water is Life, is scheduled for
Saturday, May 16, 2015 at John F. Kennedy High School in Silver Spring, MD. A Walk
for Water is Amman Imman’s signature spring fundraising and awareness event in the
Washington, DC metro area that provides an opportunity for individuals, families and
local businesses to engage in a global community service experience. This year, Amman
Imman is delighted to co-host this event with John F. Kennedy High School —
a school that embraces community service through its signature program, the
Leadership Training Institute. We are pleased to have Amman Imman’s Founder and Executive
Director Ariane Alzhara Kirtley as Opening Ceremony keynote speaker, and Montgomery County
Executive Ike Leggett as special guest speaker.
sponsorship opportunity
Local businesses are encouraged to participate in this collaborative event as corporate sponsors. You and your
business can help us raise funds to help West African nomadic children and families suffering from water
scarcity gain access to sustainable water sources and capacity-building projects focused on health, sanitation,
food security, education, women’s empowerment, environmental sustainability and livelihood opportunities.
In addition to helping Amman Imman advance its mission of supporting families and children in West Africa
in establishing a sustainable community infrastructure, the business community also has the opportunity to
empower youth as leaders as they engage in global service. Local businesses can provide in-kind donations,
become a lead sponsor of the event, showcase their products and services at the festival and support a global
cause. See Corporate Sponsorship Form enclosed. For more information, please contact Carole Bernard, event
coordinator at [email protected] or at 443.538.1565.
event details
A Walk for Water commences with an interactive cultural festival, highlighting the cultures that Amman Imman
serves and the issue of water scarcity, that features hands-on activities, food, live music from West Africa,
traditional crafts and jewelry for purchase, and live demonstrations for the whole family. During the festival,
people gather to begin the 5K walk that symbolizes the 35-mile trek children living in the Azawak of West Africa
travel to bring water home to their families.
