20th ANNUAL PARKS AND RECREATION 7-WEEK SUMMER PROGRAM!
Time to plan your summer fun! Sandown Parks and Recreation Summer Program is ready to kick off its 20th year of summer
fun and activities! There is a lot of information crammed into this flyer. You are encouraged to visit www.sandown.us to read
more about the program and how it works by viewing or reviewing the Parent Guide.
This flyer will give you dates, pricing, basic overview and more. The Parent Guide is more detailed and new participants are
encouraged to check it out to find answers to just about every question you may have. Returning participants should be sure to
review the Parent Guide for information and to read about any new changes including payments and more! If you don’t see
your question answered in the Parent Guide, please call the recreation office at 887-1872 or drop an e-mail to:
[email protected]. We are here to help! We request that you not contact the schools or other town offices as those
offices will not have the information you may need.
SUMMARY: 7- Week Summer Program open to participants ages 6-14 AND limited to entering Grades 1-8, resident and nonresident. Additional fees apply to non-residents. Program dates: Monday, June 29th through Friday, August 14th. No program
on Friday, July 3rd. Days and hours are Monday thru Friday 8 AM to 4 PM. Registration dates are as follows and will be held at
the Ed Garvey Rec. Center: Tuesday, May 12 & May 19 from 3:30 to 6:30 PM and Tuesday, June 9th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM.
Registration for non-residents opens May 19. Beginning May 19 all program registrations are on a first come basis and
weekly space is limited. Program location varies and includes Sandown Central School; Ed Garvey Recreation Building, Town
Hall & Seeley Park & Beach. Check Parent Guide for daily location information.
RATES: One-time non-refundable registration fee: $15 resident and $20 non-resident. Weekly rate is $100 per resident and
$105 non-resident and rate includes most weekly field trip fees*. Registration fee includes camp tee-shirt that is required on
all field trips. Attend for any number of weeks. Rates are by the week only. No daily or partial week rates. Attendance is never
mandatory. Payment balances for all reserved weeks are due by no later than June 18th at 4 PM. SEE PENALTIES AND
INCREASED RATES THAT APPLY TO ALL UNPAID BALANCES. One-time registration fee increases to $25 resident and
$30 non-resident on June 19. Weekly rate increases to $110 per resident and $115 non-resident beginning June 19!
<DISCOUNT>: 3rd & 4th child from same immediate family pay just $65 weekly if ALL attend in the same week(s) and all live at
the same Sandown address. Includes field trip*. 3rd and 4th children pay full registration fee and any *additional field trip fees
that apply. Discount applies to Sandown residents only. See below for deposit and payment information.
REGISTRATION: All registration should be done in person. In-person registration is mandatory for all first time
participants with required documentation. See registration dates. Birth certificate required for all first time participants. Proofof-residency and photo ID required for first time parent/guardian registering child. Sandown Recreation reserves the right to
request proof of residency from any participant during the program. Penalties and dismissal from program will apply for anyone
claiming false residency-with no refund. Participant must reside in Sandown full time to meet residency requirement. All
payments are by check or money order only payable to Sandown Recreation. NO CASH IS ACCEPTED FOR PAYMENTS.
We are not able to accept debit or credit card payments at this time. For previous participants only: call the recreation office
if unable to attend walk-in registration. Registrations sent without first speaking to recreation director will be returned.
EARLY BIRD SPECIAL! Register and pay in full for all 7 weeks, including field trip fees, by June 9th at 6 PM and be entered to
win a $100 refund for first name drawn and 2 Water Country tickets for 2nd name drawn and Canobie Field Trip refund 3rd name.
WHAT YOU WILL PAY AT REGISTRATION: It is preferred that you pay for all weeks that you register for at the time of
registration. If you are unable to pay in full at registration, and for your convenience, you may pay as follows: At registration you
will be paying the one-time, non-refundable registration fee plus a minimum of your first week of attendance, in full; plus a nonrefundable deposit of $10 for any additional weeks you wish to reserve. Your $10 per week deposit is applied towards the
weekly balance due for the week you have reserved. You may make payments up until June 18th at which time all unpaid
balances must be paid in full to avoid loss of deposit, reserved spot, and increased weekly rates. Unpaid balance payments are
to be made in sums equal to the unpaid balance for any week you have made a deposit for. You must pay the full balance for
any week when making a payment. No partial week payments. Please see Parent Guide for refund policy. Beginning June 19
any deposits on unpaid balances will be forfeited and your reserved week(s) released. Should you wish to re-register for a
released week you will pay $110 per week (resident) and $115 per week (non-resident) on a space available basis. You will be
able to switch weeks, on a space available basis, up until June 18th without penalty or loss of deposit. Beginning June 19 a
request to switch weeks may take place provided space is available and will incur $10 change fee per week(s) requested.
Space may or may not be available. Please plan carefully to avoid paying increased fees.
ACTIVITIES Each day is packed with loads of different activities. Theme days are offered throughout the summer along with
weekly field trips and lifeguard supervised swimming 2-3 times per week. Clinics are offered for those who are interested and
might include football, dance, cheerleading, softball & baseball, soccer, field hockey, basketball and more. There are always
new crafts being offered. There are special days for sports; holidays, pirates, spirit; Red Sox, sports teams, cook-outs, pizza
party and much more. You’ll go on fun field trips to places like Canobie Lake Park, Water Country, the movies, Museum of
Science and kayaking. You’re sure to enjoy all the new activities being planed too! And don’t forget the other fun things that
Sandown Recreation is famous for! There’s everyone’s favorite, the annual ‘Talent Show and Lip Sync’ along with Community
Pride Week where kids have the chance to fill the shelves of the Community Food Pantry with proceeds from a car wash and
lemonade stand that they run themselves.

Camp Day; flag crafts; make your own ice cream; 4th of July Parade; Science Challenge with balloon rockets; red-white-blue
bracelets, balloon toss; Bowling & Movie Field Trip; 4-Square; 4-Square Volleyball; beach and more! WEDNESDAY FIELD
TRIP DAY.

WEEK #2 July 6-10. MIX IT UP WEEK. Fishing Clinic; Nature Day; Bug Hunt; Crafts-in-Nature; Science Challenge: Force
Fun; Juggling Clinic; water games; sharks and minnows; Red Sox Day with Fenway Franks; Field Day; Field Trip to Sandlots
with Kayaking/Paddle Boarding and choice of French Fries or Fried Dough; Wiffle Ball World Series; Scooter Fun; swimming.
Professional Juggling Performance. WEDNESDAY FIELD TRIP DAY with Thursday or Friday as rain day make-up.
WEEK #3 July 13-17 <NEW> MUSIC WEEK New Days! Dance Party; Instrument Day; Rock Star Day; Beach Party! Bring
your own instrumenet; Dance Clinic; Science Challenge: Music Fun; Sand Castle Contest; Rock-On Band Concert; Musical
Chair Challenge; Music Show; Freeze Dance; Hula Hoop Fun; *CANOBIE LAKE PARK FIELD TRIP! ($14 extra fee applies)
THURSDAY FIELD TRIP WITH LATE RETURN OF 5 PM. Wednesday or Friday for rain day make-up.
WEEK #4 July 20-24 OLYMPIC WEEK Opening Ceremonies; team skits; jump rope; team dodge ball; sack race; 3 legged
race; Noodle Joust; 4-Square; Home Run Derby; Knockout; Science Challenge: Team “Senses” Closing Ceremonies. Field
Trip: Wallis Sands State Park. WEDNESDAY FIELD TRIP. Thursday rain day make-up.
WEEK #5 July 27-31 COMMUNITY WEEK Sandown Pride Day; Bike-A-Thon Day; Random Acts of Kindness Challenge;

WEEK #6 August 3-7 SPIRIT WEEK. Cheer-Dance Clinic; Color Day; Crazy Hat and Sock Day with Parade; Sport Spirit
Day; Beach Luau Day with Limbo, Hula Hoop Contest, Beach Volleyball; hair and nail fun; in-house movie; cook-out; Science
Challenge: Exploding Rainbows; Rainbow Crafts; Rainbow Sand Art. WEDNESDAY FIELD TRIP: Boston Museum of Science.
WEEK #7 August 10-14 CARNIVAL WEEK Clown Day; clown craft; Carnival Day with carnival games, bounce house, games
and surprises, camp awards, Pizza Party; Science Challenge: Your Own Experiments; parachute games; Frisbee; Dodge Ball;
Scooter Fun. TUESDAY Field Trip: Rain Day Wednesday rain date. *WATER COUNTRY ($14 extra fee applies)
*Please note that Canobie Lake Park and Water Country field trips incur an additional fee of $14 each payable with registration.
The additional fee is refundable if your child does not attend. These are the ONLY refundable fees. See Parent Guide for
refund policy, behavior policy and more. If your child does not attend weekly field trips there is no alternative activity for them
as all staff members attend field trips. All staff members undergo background checks and are First Aid/CPR/AED certified. if
your child requires an aide in school for either emotional, behavioral or physical issues you will need to provide one for them for
