HOW TO SEARCH FOR THE ORDERING PHYSICIAN WHEN ENTERING
ORDERS
When a nurse enters an order on behalf of a provider, the nurse must enter the name of
the provider that gave the order.
After the order has been selected the Ordering Physician window displays.
Exact Match
1. Enter the name of the provider that gave the order in the Physician name field.
2. If you enter the provider’s full name using the Last Name, First Name format e.g.
“Test, Doc” you are more likely to get the provider you want right away.

Multiple Matches
1. If you enter only the last name you are more likely to get multiple matches.
2. If you have multiple matches, click on the binoculars icon.
3. The Provider Selection window will display the names that match what you
typed.
4. If the provider you are searching for doesn’t appear in the display, you can use
the scroll bar on the right side of the display field to see more results
5. If the provider you want is still not displayed, then click on the blue arrow at the
bottom of the window to navigate to the next page of results.

6. You will know there are more matches by looking at the bottom left of the
window where it indicates More Matches Exist.
7. Click on the name of the provider that gave you the order.
8. Click OK
9. The name will now display in the Physician name field.
