Objective:
To change the lives of Chajjiyan village and surrounding
areas by providing them basic and higher education
facilities
Geographical location
Chhajjian is a valley in Haripur District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It
is located South East of the District Haripur at 33.88522°N 73.038054°E. Valley is
surrounded by Pine tree covered mountains, fresh water falls (tallest water fall of
Hazara), and rich of wildlife, but lack of educational and employment opportunities.
Chhajjian valley is center to many villages with a total population of 70,000
encompassing more than 30,000 registered voters. Over the centuries, this area
remained a neglected entity and because of this, the area lacks the fundamental
facilities of health and education and 90% of the village population lives below poverty
line with less than $2 per day earning. There are only 50 graduates in the area and
very few female graduated. Most importantly, area is abandoned to any college for
girls, even this opportunity is ceased for males. Due to non-existence of this facility for
the masses of this area is subject to brain drain, unemployment, hopelessness,
vulnerability, isolation and deprivation.
Geographical Importance

This is a beautiful mountain area, located in a hilly plain area at an altitude of 520 m (1,706 ft)
with Swabi and Buner to the west, some 60 km north of Islamabad and 53 km south of
Abbottabad. It connects with Karakoram Highway (N35) through Haripur. Its expected if
government unleashed a project of tunnel to join Abbottabad with Islamabad then distance will
remain only a drive of 15-20 minutes to this very location of Chajjian.

This village is surrounded by other neglected villages including Mungg, Nordi, Chhapra, Jab, Gandyan, Gumawan,
Kayyan, Sanjayala, Tarar, Kohala.

