She’s looking forward to making her dreams a reality through her new Forever business. A brand new year is the perfect time to get inspired, get organised and get going, says Rex. 13 Seeing the potential 06 Make this year Assistant Managers, Hazel and Christopher Chang, believe Forever will provide the opportunity to have the financial freedom to spend more quality time together. your year, Bob Parker New Year’s resolutions are notoriously hard to keep, but with Forever, 2014 really could be the year you turn your life around. 17 Sister act 12 Join the club Manager, Jodie Shingler, followed her sister’s lead when getting involved with the business and is looking forward to a bright future. Forever’s 100 Club incentive qualifiers for December 2013. 20 Moving on up Find out who has moved through in the Marketing Plan. 18 Well-earned Who achieved the Earned Incentive last month? January 2014 | Forever 4 Rex’s Message There’s no time like the present The beginning of a new year is always a time for reflection. Reflecting on our choices and how they led to successes or failures is an incredibly valuable step for moving forward. If you repeat the same mistakes, you can’t expect the end result to be any different. However, if you’re able to learn from your successes and duplicate those steps that got you there, 2014 will be full of opportunity... We had so many wonderful successes in 2013 to build from! I’m so proud of all of you for making a difference by sharing the Forever business and pursuing your own dreams and ambitions. 2014 is a blank page and only you can determine what your goals will be, and how you will work to achieve them. There are several paths to achievement. Regardless of the path that is right for you, the driving message stays the same: there’s no time like the present to get started. 1 Get inspired Spend some time with the people you admire. I’m constantly surrounded by inspiring employees, Distributors, family, and those whose lives have been changed by Forever. I can’t tell you how energised I am and encouraged by the people around me! Creating strong, supportive relationships can help you build the confidence it takes to succeed. Schedule a time to meet with your Sponsor regularly, and to meet with those that you have sponsored into Forever. Through this continued and collaborative communication, you will help each other to achieve your goals. 3 Get going Once you have built that road map to your goals, get started! Just planning is not enough. Build off the momentum of a successful 2013 and the motivation of the steps you’ve laid out in front of you. Whenever I am stuck or procrastinating, I remember something called ‘The Two-Minute Rule’. This states that if something can be done in less than two minutes, you should do it now. By making a phone call or sending an email, you are setting down the path to success for 2014. The more of these two-minute tasks you can achieve, the greater your confidence will become and the more likely you are to meet your goals. 2 Get organised After you reflect on 2013 and determine your goals for 2014, dedicate some time to planning out what it will take to achieve them. Whether your goal is to bring in a little extra income or to receive a Chairman’s Bonus cheque, map out what it will take to get there. How many follow-up phone calls or new connections will you need? Be sure to create a checklist so you don’t miss your next potential Eagle Manager. Planning these things out will help to ensure that you stay on course to achieve your goals. If you follow these simple tips, you will be surprised by how prosperous 2014 will be. I challenge each of you to make a plan and stick to it! Together, let’s make 2014 the best year yet! Recognition Dreams come true Supervisor // Lucinda Stokes Sponsor // Hayley Prosser I first came across the products from the Forever range whilst I was having beauty treatments – I thought that they looked nice, but didn’t really think any more of it. During another appointment at my beautician’s house, I went to the bathroom and used the hand wash and thought it was lovely. She later slipped into the conversation that she was looking for people who wanted to earn extra money working from home. This did interest me, but I told her I wouldn’t be good at selling products, and we left the conversation there. Having thought about it for a couple of days, I contacted the lady again and we arranged a one-to-one. As she spoke, you could genuinely tell how much she loved her job. I became really interested and I could see how and why this would work for me and my family. We went to a Business Presentation and I signed the paperwork – I was so excited. Before my box had even arrived, I was booking one-to-ones and launches. “As she spoke, you could genuinely tell how much she loved her job. I became really interested and I could see how and why this would work for me and my family.” My launches didn’t go as well as I would have hoped and I had cancellations last minute. This was disheartening, however, I booked some of the people that cancelled to come over on a one-to-one basis and I sold lots of products that way. In the first one-to-one I booked, the lady was brilliant; so full of enthusiasm. We booked on to a Business Presentation and there I signed my first team member, Mary. I was really excited that I could help someone else to make their dreams come true. I have three beautiful children: Sam, aged seven, and twins Oli and Bailey, aged five. Bailey has lots of additional needs, which means countless hospital stays and appointments. My dream is to sell our home, move to the country and have land with animals and a tree house. I truly believe this can happen as I have a fantastic team and so much support within Forever. January 2014 | Forever 5 6 Bob’s Message Make this year your year... Happy New Year everybody, from all the team at Longbridge Manor; we hope you have a happy, healthy and successful 2014. I hope that you have taken some time over the Christmas period to set yourself some big goals in 2014. If not, then I would strongly recommend that you start the year by thinking about how you would like your life and your business to look this time next year. Time goes by in the blink of an eye, and it is easy just to drift along with no real aim in life. It is a fact that many people go through the process of setting New Year’s resolutions, and usually give up on them before January is through. What we really need is a more detailed plan of what we want to achieve – and by when. Decide on the amount of income that would really make a difference to your lifestyle, and then tie that to a position in our Marketing Plan. Start visualising how your life would be if you were already there, how you would feel and how it would impact upon your life. The stronger the picture, the stronger the desire will be, and the harder it will be to get knocked off track along the way. Of course, it’s always easier not to follow through on something than it is to stick to the task. This is why most people never achieve their true potential. There is no real secret to success; it’s about finding a winning formula, getting passionate about it, and working hard. All three ingredients are critical to success. You can have the best idea in the world, but if you don’t get really passionate about it, it won’t work. We have an amazing winning formula in Forever; all you need is to get passionate about your own business, and work hard. Do that, and a year from now your life could be very different. We see it every month in Forever; people joining, getting excited about the potential, and going out and changing their lives. You will see people attending this year’s Eagle Managers’ Retreat in Lake Tahoe, who a year ago knew nothing about Forever. Anything is possible if you start to believe it. Forever | January 2014 “...There is no real secret to success; it’s about finding a winning formula, getting passionate about it, and working hard...” Every month I receive calls and emails from Distributors who are earning enough to quit their job, or who have just bought their dream car, or been on an amazing holiday creating great memories. So, why not you, and why not this year? Make that commitment to yourself; if you want your life to change, then you have to change. As we enter a brand new year, let’s build on the amazing one we had in 2013, when once again we broke all records. This business truly has come of age. Its impeccable track record, with thousands of real people making a success of it, will attract more and more over the coming years. Feature 7 Forever’s resident expert on everything social media, Ronald Kafesu, explains the basics of Pinterest. Pinterest is like any other social media platform, in that you can follow individuals and share your likes and ideas with your followers. But it has its own unique twist. Usually, when you see something you like online and want to remember or record it, what do you do? Email it to yourself? Print it out and put it in a binder? Bookmark it on your computer? Like an online dream board, Pinterest provides a simple way to collect all of the great things you find online, from clothes and recipes, gift ideas, inspirational news articles, exercises, and business ideas – anything you like – all in one convenient place. You can ‘pin’ things online, just as you would pin them on a real life notice board. Plus, you can follow friends on Pinterest and ‘repin’ things that they have already pinned, or browse a live feed of items that are being pinned by other people when you’re searching for inspiration. Getting started Turn over for all you need to know about the world of Pinterest - you’ll be up and running in no time... January 2014 | Forever 8 Feature Getting started 1. Sign up for a Pinterest account Once you’re all signed up, the next thing you’ll need is the ‘Pin It’ button installed in your browser toolbar. This magic little button allows you to pin things online. 2. Installing the button is very easy. When you’re in your account, look to the upper righthand corner and hover above ‘About’, then click on ‘Pin It’ button and follow the directions to drag the button into your toolbar. Or instead of using the ‘Pin It’ button, you can copy and paste links from sites you like, and it will search for photos from that page, which you can then pin. You can also upload photos from your computer by using a URL link and also YouTube videos. TOP 1 Pinterest is the third most popular social network and the fastest to hit the 10 million visitors mark 2 Shoppers referred to a site from Pinterest are 10% more likely to buy 3 Pinterest referrals spend 70% more money than visitors referred from non-social channels 4 Call-to-action pins increase Pinterest engagement by 80% 5 80% of Pinterest users are women, while 50% of all Pinterest users have children 6 Pins which include prices receive 36% more likes than those which do not 7 Pinterest drives more revenue per click for eCommerce sites than Facebook or Twitter What should I pin? The great thing about Pinterest is that you can pin anything you want! Everyone uses it for different things, from sharing photos you’ve taken at Forever events, to saving articles that you want to reference later. Basically, Pinterest can easily be whatever you want it to be. As you start pinning, you can create ‘boards’ that categorise your pins; this makes it easy for you to find later. Pinterest suggests some pins to get you started, but usually you’ll want to create your own to fit in with your own interests or your business. It takes a while to get the hang of creating boards; they need to be the perfect combination of general and specific. The more you pin, the better your boards will become and the better your account will look. Don’t forget about the ‘Repin’ function on Pinterest. Once you’ve started to follow people, you will have a customised feed where you can see all of the things that they’re pinning too. If you see a pin you love that’s been posted by someone you are following, all you have to do is hover over that pin in the feed and click on the ‘Repin’ button to add it to one of your boards. Forever | January 2014 FACTS Jargon buster Pins // Pins are like little bookmarks. Whenever you find something on the web that you want to keep, add it to Pinterest. After using the products for three weeks, my wife noticed remarkable benefits. From that point on, we spoke to all of our friends and family about the benefits of the products, and before we knew what was happening, people were asking us to order products for them. This encouraged us to look at the business. My wife, coming from a self-employed background, was encouraged firstly by the initial investment, and secondly, by the earning potential. The most challenging part of being involved in Forever was stepping out of our comfort zone and approaching people we did not know very well in order to present the business. We found that after signing our first three recruits, our confidence began to grow, as did the money we were now earning. Achieving Assistant Manager level came through sheer perseverance. We had knock-backs along the way, but told ourselves, in the words of Jayne Leach, “Every no would bring us closer to a yes,” which was so true. We were determined to follow our dreams, even if at times things did not move at the pace we might have wanted them to. Having worked full-time as a radiographer for several years, and my wife working as the proprietor of a busy, city centre salon, we have often looked for opportunities to earn enough money to give us the financial freedom to spend more time together. We have family in the Caribbean and in the States, who we would love to visit more frequently. We also have a granddaughter that, due to work commitments, we don’t see as often as we’d like to. In the three months of being with Forever, we can see the potential that this company has to offer us. We would encourage anyone who would like to make an income beyond their wildest dreams to look at Forever and all it has to offer. Investigate the history of the company, as this will serve to give you the security and peace of mind that you are joining a company that invests in its members. Chase incentives like Earned Incentive and Global Rally, to continually motivate yourself and your team to make your dreams, and theirs, a reality. Looking towards the future, we want to touch more people’s lives with the products. The feedback we have had has been amazing. Finally, we look forward to achieving Manager level very soon and to building our team, whilst training them to do the same. January 2014 | Forever 14 Feature Cultivating goodness There’s nothing secret about what makes Forever a unique and successful business. It’s all down to one thing; our aloe vera. Our tailored approach to supply and production of this powerful, natural ingredient allows us the freedom to give back to the local community, and helps preserve our environment. “ Forever’s plantations work to cleanse the earth of two million tons of CO2 every year ” Feature 15 When Rex Maughan created Forever Living Products, he knew it wasn’t in the best interest of the company to rely on third-party vendors for supplies. So, Forever secured not only its own aloe plantations, but also its manufacturing plants and storage facilities. This way, the company is able to control quality and cost every step of the way – starting with the raw materials and ending with the finished products. Pure, stabilised aloe vera gel is the primary ingredient of our exceptional products and is at the heart of everything we do here at Forever. Maintaining this high quality is so important to us, that Forever actually owns the aloe plantations it uses, both in the Rio Grande Valley of southern Texas, and a 6,500-acre plantation in the Dominican Republic – the largest aloe plantation in the world. Handled with care From planting and tending the crop to harvesting it, our aloe plants are carefully nurtured with the same level of care and standards that we put into every one of our final products. Our farmers harvest our aloe by hand, processing the leaves within hours to produce the purest, freshest aloe vera gel and retaining all of its inherent qualities. We employ local farmers, providing a stable income for the surrounding community, and excellent working conditions. Forever begins with pure inner leaf gel – believed to be the most beneficial part of the plant – and carefully adds other ingredients to produce our premium products. Unlike many other health and beauty manufacturers, our products are genuinely centered around the goodness of aloe vera, rather than adding only a token amount, just so it can be added to the label. But, high quality consumer products aren’t the only reason our aloe is so special. With over 50 million aloe vera plants, Forever’s plantations work to cleanse the earth of two million tons of CO2 every year, meaning the company’s net carbon footprint actually has a positive effect on the environment. In addition to this, goats and sheep are used to naturally control weed growth and to provide 100% natural fertiliser, helping us to avoid chemical pesticides and herbicides. “We employ local farmers, providing a stable income for the surrounding community, and excellent working conditions” January 2014 | Forever 16 Feature Green in more ways than one Unlike other companies that brag about environmental responsibility and minimal eco adjustments, Forever continually assesses its own practices in order to improve its green credentials. We even have certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) – an independent organisation that evaluates companies’ environmental impact – and in 2006, we launched a formal environmental sustainability programme to challenge ourselves to do even more. Our documented Environmental Management System was certified to the international ISO 14000 standard, and we have maintained that certification every year since. “Unlike many other health and beauty manufacturers, our products are genuinely centred around the goodness of aloe vera” Forever Giving Forever’s efforts to make the world a better place don’t stop there. Forever Giving, the charitable arm of Forever Living Products, works in partnership with global organisations to raise money and provide support for worthy causes. The charity specifically focuses on making a difference throughout the world by providing funds, facilities, and education, to help fight against poverty, hunger, and the lack of medical services available for children. The foundation also supports relief efforts in response to natural disasters, including supporting the victims of the recent Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. For more information on Forever’s sustainable plantations, visit discoverforever.com To donate to Forever Giving, visit www.forever-giving.org/ Sister act Manager // Jodie Shingler Recognition 17 Sponsor // Abbie Shingler Hello, my name is Jodie Shingler and my background is in accounts, which I worked in for seven years whilst training to be an accountant. I did love my job, but I would sometimes sit there looking out of the window thinking about how much of my life I was wasting by sitting behind a desk all day, working to make someone else rich. I already had my daughter and I hated leaving her behind when I went to work, then coming home to everyone telling me she did things for the first time. After falling pregnant with my second child and going on maternity leave, I knew, as the months went by, that I didn’t want to go back to work and leave both of my babies, paying someone else to look after them. So, I started looking for a home-based business. I tried another direct selling company, but, I hardly made any money for the amount of hard work I was putting in. Then my sister, Abbie Shingler, was introduced to Forever by Jilly Hendy. I was very sceptical when Abbie told me about Forever, so I said I’d let her try first, which she did. Then, a couple of months later, in October 2012, I decided to take the plunge, and I’m so glad I did. It makes me feel quite ill thinking that if I hadn’t found Forever, then I would have had to go back to work and not spend that precious time with my little ones. “...I now work when and how I want part-time and flexibly around my children. I have made Manager a year on from when I started, which is amazing. The only way is up...” This is such a good company to be involved in. We have all the training, help and support we need to be successful. I have an amazing team and I have made so many good friends. Forever has also enabled me to replace my partner’s income in the near future, meaning he can reduce hours at work and spend more time with us as a family. Forever | January 2014 A business milestone Recognition 19 Senior Manager // Claire Cotton-May Sponsor // Jane Galpin My background is in television as a Producer and Director for the BBC, specialising in fashion and interiors programmes, which went out on BBC1 and the World Service. I worked crazy hours and eventually my health gave way and I was diagnosed with ME, or chronic fatigue, which I battled for six years. Fortunately, a friend introduced me to our aloe gel, which transformed my health and energy levels, to the point that I was able to climb Kilimanjaro. In the last two years I have climbed a very different mountain. Senior Manager is a business milestone for me, and along with it, I have also qualified for Chairman’s Bonus for the first time. My first Managers, Roger and Josephine Williamson, led me to a great team in South Africa. My frontline Managers, Janey Cotton and Tea Staegemann, have between them brought an amazingly diverse range of people into the team, with one common goal – to change their financial futures. “I feel like we are moving from a cruising lane to the fast lane in Forever. I want to ride that global growth wave until it washes right up the beach!” What I love most about my team is that they all genuinely care and encourage each other all over the world. I am also very proud of the fact that I now have three generations of my family within that team, which includes my mum, my sisterin-law and my 18-year-old nephew, Sam Cotton. Forever gives us the support, the marketing materials and the credibility to get our opportunity in front of fresh sets of eyes – it is our job to share that knowledge with others so that they can change their lives too. By attending all the events I could, by listening to the leaders that have gone before, I have been able to develop myself and my business skills, and that is priceless. My biggest thanks go to Adam, who has been closest to my Forever journey and encouraged and helped me focus on the right activities to grow an exceptional team. And to the three little people who came into my life 13 years ago, Ella, George and Alice; I love you and am very excited about the future.
