Junior Tennis Class Descriptions
Spongeball Squarepants: (Tiny Tots)
Quickstart program designed to develop coordination and
introduce children to tennis with the emphasis on having FUN!
Quickstart Sponge/Red: (Short Shots)
Introductory Quickstart is designed for children 5 to 7 years
old to reestablish the basic elements and skills they enjoyed in
Spongeball, while continuing the fun!
Quickstart Red :(Level I)
Introductory Quickstart for children 7 years and older to teach the proper techniques for
the ground stroke, volley and serve. Students will learn basic body movement, rallying,
and a positive introduction to tennis.
Quickstart Orange :(Level II)
This Quickstart class continues to develop proper techniques with an introduction to
match play and strategy.
Quickstart Green:(Level III/ lV)
This Quickstart class focuses on the development of more advanced techniques.
Players begin to use a larger court while improving their skills of singles and doubles
play.
Junior Tennis 101
The Junior players 12-17 years old being introduced or re-introduced to the game. This
class will cover basic strokes, rules and etiquette. There will be some match play, developing and sustaining rallies will make up most of the curriculum.
Quickstart Green/Yellow : (Tournament 1, Frosh/Soph Prep)
Last progression to prepare players for full court match play with yellow balls.
Quickstart Tournament Prep :
Designed to introduce tournament play to young players that have not
participated in official tournaments
Challenger Tournament
Designed for players with some tournament experience with the focus
on the physical and mental aspects of tournament play, including
pre and post match preparations.
Summer 2015
Frosh-Soph Prep: Designed for junior high and freshman players
Junior Varsity Prep: Designed for returning JV players
Varsity Prep: Designed for returning Varsity players
Pro’s approval required for participation
in all junior group classes.

Priority Registration is held for members in our Summer Junior Tennis Program. The
priority registration period ends two weeks before the start of each session. Nonmembers are only enrolled if space is available at that time, and there are separate
lesson rates for non-members. Rates on this form are for South Barrington Club Members only.
Non-members register at a higher rate. Please see Sean Albrecht or
Will Karydakis for specific rate and availability information for non-members.
Pro’s approval is required for entry into all junior group classes.
Player evaluations are available. See a Pro for details.

SBC Junior Team Tennis NEW!
Players will compete in singles and doubles against neighboring clubs in the area thus
preparing for competitive tournament and high school team play. The Junior Travel
Team experience will be enhanced through bi-weekly Junior Team practices.
*Participation in at least one complete Junior Team Practice Session is a requirement in order
to join Junior Travel Team.
