Principals’ Reports
Sierra Vista CAS Report
Stephen Huff made a correction to the enrollment number for the Pre-School,
which has now reached 60 students. The Pre-School received a 4.5 rating in its
most recent Quality First Evaluation, which is an improvement from its 2.5 rating
from four years ago. CAS lost two staff members this month, and made one new
hire. Mr. Huff is in the process of interviewing new teachers for the 2015-16
school year. Sierra Vista CAS is hoping to expand their Engineering Department
to include an Aeronautical Engineering course and a Civil Engineering course for
the upcoming school year. The high school prom is scheduled for May 9.
Douglas CAS Report
Marcela Munguia explained that the lower enrollment numbers this month were
due primarily to families moving away. In an effort to avoid situations where
parents drop their unregistered children off on the first day of school, Douglas
CAS is working to produce ID cards for students. A round up of kindergarten is
also planned to assess each student’s maturity level. Students from the high
school participated in a town hall meeting which was featured in the Douglas
Dispatch. The high school prom is scheduled for April 24.
F.
Executive Director’s Report
Vada Phelps briefly discussed the continuing construction projects in Douglas.
She also touched on the Department of Labor Fiscal Meeting that she attended the
previous week in company with Michelle Huff, Vickie Simmons, and Kaylene
York.
