The Division of Intramural Research is seeking an accomplished scientist in information technology to take on a
leadership position as the NIEHS Scientific Information Officer (SIO). This individual will head the Office of the
Scientific Information Officer (OSIO) and will lead a team that is directly focused on intramural scientific information
technology. Responsibilities include strategic planning and management, scientific computing, training, and
functioning as a liaison with other parts of the NIH, other federal agencies, and with other organizations. The
successful candidate will coordinate with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Director of the Office of Scientific
Information Management (OSIM) to establish and maintain a science information technology infrastructure that
supports a vast variety of biomedical computing needs.
The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) with a record of accomplishment in

position, due to its cross-cutting nature, requires an individual who is highly collaborative, comfortable tackling

of Health (NIH), is seeking an exceptional and motivated leader to serve as a medical officer in the Division of Allergy,
Immunology, and Transplantation (DAIT). DAIT supports basic and clinical research to improve our understanding of
fundamental immunology and the causes of immune-mediated diseases to develop better diagnostic, treatment, and
prevention strategies.
As a medical officer, you will have a wide range of responsibilities relating to the oversight of a major extramural
clinical research program. Duties include development of clinical trial research concepts and protocols, oversight and
coordination of active trials, data analysis and evaluation, and publication of results. DAIT initiates approximately 25
clinical trials per year and supports 90 ongoing trials through the extramural clinical research program.

The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), a major research component of the National Institutes of
Health (NIH) and the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), is seeking exceptional candidates for the
position of Director, Division of Genetics and Developmental Biology (GDB). Information about GDB is available

discoveries that have led to deeper knowledge of how cells and organisms function as well as to new technologies
and approaches. In FY 2015, the Division of Genetics and Developmental Biology had an annual budget of about
$439 million and is one of five scientific divisions within the NIGMS. GDB is organized into two branches, one focused
on genetic mechanisms and one on developmental and cellular processes, and has 11 scientific staff members who
serve as program officers. The division director reports to the NIGMS director and is a member of the NIGMS senior
leadership team, which helps set policies and priorities for the Institute. There are also opportunities to participate in
and advise on NIH-wide activities and collaborations with other federal agencies.
While concentrating on general principles of genetics, gene expression and developmental biology, often using model
organisms, research supported by GDB underpins studies on human health and disease. The Director, GDB plans
and directs a program of research grants and contracts, analyzes national research efforts on the problem of human
genetic disease, makes recommendations to assist the National Advisory General Medical Sciences Council or other
advisory committees or groups, identifies the need for research in the area of genetics and developmental biology,
and advises universities, other centers of medical research, and professional and lay organizations about research
needs and requirements. The Division supports research on genetic and molecular regulation, protein synthesis, gene
expression, DNA and RNA, intracellular signaling pathway dynamics and network organization in genetics, among
other areas. This position offers important opportunities to set scientific priorities, lead change and improve the
research enterprise.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree in a field relevant to the position. The
ideal candidate will have considerable research experience and will possess a broad spectrum of scientific knowledge
related to the NIGMS mission. In addition, candidates should possess recognized research management and
leadership abilities. A strong understanding of the fundamental mechanisms of inheritance, development, and cell
function is desired. The position will be filled under a Title 42(f) excepted service appointment.

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) Vaccine Research Center (VRC) is recruiting for a
senior scientist to oversee the Immunology Core Laboratory (IMC). The IMC applies fundamental research analyses
to preclinical and Phase I/II clinical trials using innovative approaches and technologies while also offering scientific
and technical expertise to investigators conducting novel vaccine discovery. Additionally, the IMC is responsible for the
initial development, qualification, implementation, and deployment of analyses tailored to evaluate immune endpoints
of immunotherapy or vaccine trials. The senior scientist will have committed resources to support laboratory research
and an allocated annual budget to cover services, supplies, and salaries.
Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the position, the VRC seeks candidates with a Ph.D. or other relevant doctoral
degree in immunology, virology, or a closely related scientific field, coupled with a proven record of a broad spectrum
of scientific research in clinical and pre-clinical environments, as well as experience with validated immune monitoring
and practical vaccine development. The successful candidate will also have experience in program and personnel
management, developing and managing research contracts, financial oversight, and contract administration. The
candidate will plan, manage, and analyze data from animal and clinical studies evaluating immunogenicity of vaccine
candidates entering product development.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in vaccine development research, nonhuman primate and clinical studies,
good laboratory practices (GLP) animal studies, good clinical laboratory practices (GCLP), and regulatory compliance
and will have a record of independent research and peer-reviewed publication. Salary is commensurate with
experience and accomplishments. The salary range for Microbiologist (Senior Scientist), GS-403-15, is $126,245 to
