IUPUI FRESHMAN SCHOLARSHIPS
IUPUI administers over $200 million in financial aid and
scholarships every year to thousands of IUPUI students
to aid them in paying for their education. Scholarships,
awarded to students through many different programs
at IUPUI, are usually awarded based on academic
performance and potential for future performance.
Some programs also look at leadership, extracurricular
involvement and community service. Some also require
financial need. See Scholarship Central at
www.iupui.edu/~scentral/ for more information and where
to obtain additional applications for other IUPUI
scholarships not listed here.
One Application, One Transcript!
With this application, you may apply for multiple
scholarships at the same time and need to submit only one
copy of your most recent high
school transcript. In some cases,
you can even submit one essay for
more than one scholarship.

students who choose to live in on-campus housing. Some
students may also receive additional awards from their
IUPUI academic unit (i.e. School of Science, Engineering
and Technology, Herron, etc.). Scholarships at IUPUI are
credited directly to the student account to be applied
towards the balance on their bursar statement. The
scholarship amounts received annually are usually split
equally between fall and spring semesters.
Important Explanation about New SAT Scores: Please
note that the new Writing section of the SAT will NOT be
used as a scholarship eligibility criterion. Until more
research is done on the efficacy and accuracy of this section,
and best practices established about how to best evaluate
this new section of the test, only the Critical Reasoning and
Math portions of the test will be considered. Therefore, any
required SAT score that is listed as an eligibility criterion
for the scholarships on this
application represents the combined
total of just the Critical Reading
and Math sections only. All ACT
on scholarships
required scores refer to the
composite ACT score.

Recommendation forms: Forms
must be completed by a teacher, academic counselor, clergy
member or employer, those who can attest to your character
and academic performance. Recommenders cannot be
family members. If preferred, a recommendation letter can
be submitted. These should be on letterhead and sealed with
the recommendation form, then sent to our office. Note: Be
sure recommendations speak to the type of scholarship for
which you are applying.
Scholarships and Tuition at
IUPUI: An IUPUI education
offers many opportunities not available at other institutions
because of its great location and partnerships with local
businesses and neighborhood resources. When you add
scholarships into the equation, the great deal just got better!
Tuition at IUPUI is very competitive. For more information
on tuition and fee rates, visit the Bursar website at:
www.bursar.iupui.edu. See how far your scholarship dollars
can go!
Deadlines: Deadlines for each scholarship vary. NOTE:
Deadline means the date the scholarship application and
materials must be received in our office, NOT
POSTMARKED BY THAT DATE. Applications can be
dropped off at the Scholarship Office drop box outside
Cavanaugh Hall, Room 103 or may be faxed with prior
approval.
Abbreviations (see abbreviations key below): For your
convenience, we have summarized the materials necessary
for each scholarship. One of each is all you need to
enclose. Recommendation letters should be sealed in a
separate envelope and enclosed, or sent separately by the
recommender: remember they must be received by the
deadline.
Multiple Scholarships: Some combinations of scholarship
awards may be possible. Approximately 1,000 new
scholarships are awarded each Fall. IUPUI usually limits
scholarship awards so that they do not exceed full-time
tuition, fee and books, which can range between $7,000 $9,000 annually depending on how many credit hours a
student takes. Additional awards may be considered for
