ONGOING DEADLINES
ALERT SCHOLARSHIP: This is a $500 essay scholarship is for seniors with a minimum 2.5
GPA. Applicants are asked to write an essay about a personal encounter they or someone they
know has had with drug and/or alcohol abuse. For more information please go to:

UNITED NEGRO COLLEGE FUND SCHOLARSHIPS: This site allows students to search
through hundreds of scholarship and grant programs administered by the United Negro College
Fund. To be considered, applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, complete the FAFSA,
have verifiable unmet need, and enroll in one of 39 member colleges or universities. Apply online at: https://scholarships.uncf.org/ Deadline: Varies
HISPANIC SCHOLARSHIP FUND: This site is the home of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund,
the nation’s largest provider of college financial aid for Latino students. Students have the ability
to apply to multiple scholarships using this website. Eligible students must have a minimum 3.0
cumulative GPA, complete the FAFSA (DACA applicants must submit household income
information) and be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents with a valid permanent resident
card or a passport stamped I-551 (not expired) or be granted Deferred Action for Childhood
Arrivals (DACA status at the time of submission of their application. Apply a:

EPSILON SIGMA ALPHA SCHOLARSHIPS: The Epsilon Sigma Alpha Foundation is a
international leadership organization focused on international leadership and service. The ESA

SCHOLARSHIP: The Delta Upsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha awards at least

SEA MAR—SCHOLARSHIP FOR CHILDREN OF FARMWORKERS SCHOLARSHIP:
This scholarship is for students with parents who work or have worked as farmworkers in the
United States. Must be a high school senior in Washington State. A personal statement is
required. Several winners will be selected and awarded a $1,000 scholarship. Online application

WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY’S ‘IMAGINE TOMORROW’ COMPETITION:
High school students in grades 9-12 with great ideas and a desire to make a difference are
eligible to apply. The topic this year is “Fuel It Forward”. Students form a team and create a
project that explores ways for the world to enable some aspect of this transition to alternate
energy sources. Participants can choose between four challenges: Technology, Design, Behavior
or Multidisciplinary Collaboration. Teams with winning presentations can win thousands of
dollars for each team member and their high school. Registration is only open to the first 175

VISIONARY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: All high school students eligible. Application
includes unofficial high school transcript and a 500 word essay on Why College is Important to
Me. Students will be judged on their grammar and punctuation, merit of essay and ability to
follow guidelines. Several winners will be selected for awards ranging from $1,000-$5,000.

AMERICAN INDIAN EDUCATION FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP: The American
Indian Education Foundation (AIEF) is now accepting applications for the 2015-2016 American
Indian Education Foundation Scholarship. The $2,000 scholarship is offered to those students
who are enrolled Tribal members or to those who are a descendent to a federally recognized
American Indian tribe. The applicant must be enrolled as a fulltime student at an accredited 2
or 4 year college/university or technical/vocational school in order to receive the scholarship.

R.H. THOMSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP: The Seattle Section of the American
Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) awards the R.H. Thomson Scholarship to recognize and
encourage students who are interested in pursuing a career in the field of Civil Engineering.
The scholarship is for $5,000 to be awarded for the 2015 -2016 school year. Interested students

WESTERN WASHINGTON NATIVE AMERICAN EDUCATION CONSORTIUM
(WWNAEC) MERIT AWARD: Merit Awards are offered to Native American High School
Seniors each spring. Awards are presented to students planning on attending an accredited two
or four year college, tribal college or university, to include vocational or technical institutes.
Recipients must be Native American, have a minimum GPA of 2.00 and enrolled in a school
where Native Education Counselor is a member of WWNAEC. WWNAEC is an organization
dedicated to furthering the educational goals of Native Youth in Western Washington.
WWNAEC offers up to six awards at $566.00 each. Exact dollar amount and number of awards

BLACKS AT MICROSOFT SCHOLARSHIP: For students of African descent who plan to
pursue a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, computer information systems, or
select business programs at a four-year institution. Must demonstrate leadership skills as well a
passion for technology. Required minimum 3.3 GPA and financial need. Students will be judged
on letters of recommendation, resume, transcript and two essays. Two renewable $5,000

UW NIKKEI ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP: The UW Nikkei Alumni Association offers five
scholarships ranging from $2000 - $2500 to students of Japanese ancestry who attend the
University of Washington. Students are selected on the basis of financial need, academic
achievement and community service, especially to the Asian- American community.

YOUNG NATIVE WRITERS ESSAYCONTEST: This contest is open to Native American
high school students currently enrolled in grades 9 – 12 only. Applicants should write an essay
of no more than 1,200 words that responds to the prompt,
“Images of Native America
Write an essay about one or more of the cultural images, symbols, or art forms that have been historically utilized by your
community (American Indian, Alaska Native or Native Hawaiian) to communicate a particular message or value or serve a
specific purpose. The essay should:
• Describe the image(s), symbol(s) or art forms (hereinafter, collectively, "image");
• Explain how the image was historically used by the community;
• Reflect on your own experience (including your thoughts and feelings) with the image;
• Suggest why or how the image is still relevant today.

CONGRESSIONAL HISPANIC CAUCUS INSTITUTE SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship
is for Latino students with a history of performing public service-oriented activities in their
communities who plan to continue with similar activities in the future. The scholarship is a one
time award of either $1,000 at a community college or AA/AS granting institution or $2,500 at a
4 yr college or university or $5000 to pursue graduate-level study. Students must be either US
citizens or permanent residents. NOTE: Individuals who are seeking consideration under the
“Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival” (DACA) policy must possess an Employment

AYN RAND’S THE FOUNTAINHEAD ESSAY CONTEST: This contest is for high school
students in 11th & 12th grades. Students must write an essay of 800 to1600 words that
addresses one of three possible topics from the book, The Fountainhead. Cash prizes range from

SCHOLARSHIP: The VA Puget Sound Chapter of Blacks in Government will be awarding

scholarships are for $500- $3000 each including a $2,000 award for a 2015 high school

scholarships to high school students of Khmer descent. Students must have a minimum

ROYAL BROUGHAM FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP: This scholarship is for
Christian students who are planning on attending a school that belongs to the Christian

WASHINGTON STATE PTA FINANCIAL GRANTS: Washington State PTA will award
a limited number of financial grants to Washington State public high school graduates
beginning their freshman year of post-secondary education in the 2015-2016 academic
year. Grants of $2,000 will be awarded to recipients entering four-year post-secondary
institutions within the United States. $1,000 grants will be awarded to recipients entering
community college, voc-tech schools or other accredited institutions within the United States.

NORDSTROM SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: This scholarship is for juniors and will be
awarded to five students in Washington and Alaska. To be eligible, students must maintain a
cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher, have made a substantial contribution to the community, be
involved in school activities and demonstrate the financial need for a scholarship. A 500-word
essay, a personal statement, and a financial statement are required. Award is for $10,000 paid

SCHOLARSHIP IN LABOR STUDIES: This scholarship is for students entering or
transferring to the UW that are committed to the principles of justice and equality and have
demonstrated financial need on their FAFSA. To apply, students must write a brief essay
explaining their commitment to the study of labor or to involvement with the labor movement
