Program Overview: This program is designed to assist
physicians in caring for patients with common and complex
cardiovascular problems with emphasis on practical incorporation of the most recent advances into clinical practice.
Program Objectives: The following address the ACGME/
ABMS “Medical Knowledge” and “Compassionate,
Appropriate & Effective Patient Care” Competencies:
Upon completion of this program, attendees should be able to
better evaluate and manage: congestive heart failure; devices
used in heart failure; acute and chronic coronary artery disease
syndromes; new antiplatelet therapy; common problems in
patients with coronary stents; valvular heart disease;
percutaneous aortic valve replacement; trans-catheter mitral
valve repair; atrial fibrillation; arrhythmias; novel anticoagulants; deep venous thrombosis & pulmonary embolism;
preventive cardiology; lipids; cardiovascular risk of diabetes and
pre-diabetes; interesting ECG tracings and echocardiograms;
and, recent trials and their impact on clinical practice.
Who Should Attend? The course is intended for
cardiologists as well as generalists, and all primary care
providers seeking a comprehensive update in
cardiovascular diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
Format: State of the art lectures, panel discussions
utilizing illustrative cases, and focused workshops.
