Secretary of State Alex Padilla Covers State of Education Address at
Cerritos College

WHAT: California Secretary of State Alex Padilla will be the keynote speaker at Cerritos
College’s annual State of Education event on March 31. The event will include the
College’s Student Completion Project, highlight its success strategies to help students
reach their educational goals, and a discussion about California’s higher education
system.
The Honorable Alex Padilla was sworn in as California Secretary of State in January 2015.
He authored the historic Community College Transfer Law (SB 1440) that now gives
students a clear pathway to transfer from community colleges to the CSU system.
Padilla also previously served in the California State Senate (2006-2014) where he
chaired the Committee on Energy, Utilities, and Communications. As chair, he
shepherded legislation to combat climate change and create a greener and more
sustainable economy.
