Scott County, VA is building a new animal shelter in the Spring of 2015. This is a highly publicized project
with much media attention. The building will be located in clear view of US23.
REQUEST FOR BIDS
Scott County Public Works is soliciting bids for the construction of a 100’ x 36’ insulated, post steel
building to be located at the County property adjacent to 184 Single Tree Rd, Gate City, VA 24251.
Sealed Bids labeled Animals Shelter Building must be submitted to Amy Vicars, Purchasing
Administrator, 336 Water Street, Gate City, VA 24251 or FAX to 276-386-9198 no later than 2p.m.

The Contractor will furnish all tools, equipment, labor, materials, and transportation needed for
the construction, cleaning, hauling debris and materials, and completing the project described in this
document.
2.
All site grading, excavation, backfill, landscaping, paving and any or all work or construction not
specified in this document will be by others or can be negotiated and added to this agreement as an
addendum.
3.
The Contractor will construct 1 ea 100’ x 36’ post-steel building in place.

This building will have 6x6 solid treated posts set in concrete mix footers.
b.
This building will have 24’ trusses 10’ OC.
c.
This building will have 2x6 roof purlins set in metal hangers 20” OC.
d.
This building will have 2x6 side wall girts 30” OC.
e.
This building will have full 3” vinyl backed figerglass insulation.
f.
This building will have 1 ea. 9’ wide x 9’ high commercial garage door.
g.
This building will have 29 gauge painted tuff-rib steel roof and side walls.

This building will have gutters and down spouts.

This building will have 6’ wire and rebar reinforced concrete floor.

This building will have70’ 6 inch trench drain installed for kennel area.

This building will have drains for the following plumbing fixtures: one unisex restroom; one
utility sink; one washer.
