Direct Coupled Actuator
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
DESCRIPTION
CONDUIT CONNECTION
The ML6144 Direct Coupled Actuator (DCA) is a
360 degree rotary actuator without end-stops. It mounts
directly to a threaded shaft that drives a damper blade
back and forth along the entire length of a Modular
Integrated Terminal (MIT) air delivery box that is installed
under the floor.

INSTALLATION
Mounting
The actuator mounts on a 3/8 in. threaded shaft that
drives a damper blade back and forth along the entire
length of an MIT box:
1. Align actuator guides with horizontal runners on
box, see Fig. 2.
NOTE: Ensure actuator is oriented as shown in
Fig. 2.

4.
Slide the actuator into the MIT box until it comes in
contact with the cross beam, see Fig. 2.
Slide the shaft adapter onto the threaded damper
shaft and secure using a roll pin (not supplied).
(See Fig. 3.)
Attach the adapter to the actuator by sliding it into
the square hole in the hub until the circular
shoulder is flush with the actuator hub and the
adapter snaps into place.

Wiring
The ML6144 wiring design facilitates trouble-free
installation. Circuitry of both ML6144 Molex connectors is
identical. So, either connector can serve as the input:
1. Connect the input (a Molex plug wired with
Series 60 spdt wiring) to one ML6144 connector,
see Fig. 4.
2. Use the second Molex connector, as needed, as
output to another ML6144 to daisy-chain up to
eight motors, see Fig. 4.

To check out the ML6144:
1. Operate the device through one full cycle.
2. Drive the damper fully closed.
3. Drive the damper fully open.
4. If the actuator does not run:
a. Ensure the actuator is mounted properly.
b. Check power supply for the presence of 24 Vac.
c. Check for binding.
5. If the mounting is correct, 24 Vac input is present,
the drive shaft is clear from obstruction, but the
actuator does not run, replace it.
