Presidents Report
Finally it’s started. The long wait is over. Season 2015 has kicked off with a fantastic start after a great day at Wentworth
on Sunday for the MJFC.
It all began Thursday night when our social rooms were packed to the rafters with kids, players, Mums, Dads, Grandparents
and friends for the important presentation of our senior football teams jumper (13’s, 14.5’s and 16’s) and the introduction
of our senior netball girls ( 13’s and 15’s div one and two), a proud moment for all. The highlight of the evening was seeing
Life Member Allan Turvey presenting the under 16 Jumpers to the boys. I know how pleased Allan was to be given the honour and the boys were equally as thrilled. Big thanks go to all that supported the night, the ladies& Mick in the kitchen and
the boys behind the bar.
Sunday we headed to Dareton the take on Wenty in all grades of football and netball. I forgot how much I missed the early
starts on Sunday morning, something the Under 10’s mums and dads can relate too I’m sure.
Our club had a fantastic day with many wins both in the netball and football and all of our players for both codes played
very well and should all be extremely proud of their effort and achievements, as we all are. Well done to all..
Thanks you to all our coaches and support staff who make these days happen without fuss. One thing that was apparent at
the end of the day is we need more assistance from parents on game day, particularly for the football. If your child is playing
and you wish to contribute on game day please make yourself know to the coach of their team. Your assistance will be greatly
appreciated, I assure you...
On Sunday our senior football and netball teams were given the chance to play for a 100 year of Anzac commemorative certificate for the best afield on the day, chosen by the coach. This award has been introduced by the MJFC committee in 2015.
There were many players whom were eligible for this award on Sunday all displaying various acts of bravery.
Congratulations to the following players for being judged best afield for 2015 and receiving the Anzac award.
Football: Gus Rogers (U13’s), Nathan Pinchbeck (U14.5’s) and Liam O Neill (U16’s)
Netball: Lily Ayson (13’s Div2) Zoe Black (13’s Div1)
Steph White (15’s Div 2) Gemma Young (15’s Div 1)
Unfortunately there weren’t any more awards but it must be stated that our entire under 16’s football team displayed all
the attributes of the Anzac fighting spirit. They were up against it from the start and gallant in defeat, with a very undermanned side consisting of 10 Under 14 players whom had just finished a full game prior to taking the field again. Well done
to them, a super effort.
Congratulations to Larry Coluccio who played his 100th game of football for the MJFC.
We look forward to our first home game this week against Mildura. It will be great seeing Kenny Park buzzing again on a
Sunday morning with our junior’s in action. We look forward to seeing lots of people there to cheer them on..

Netball Report—Round 1
Under 11 Div 2 – What a delightful start to the season with 8 Under 11 div d bright eyed enthusiastic girls eager to take the
court. Olivia and Jayda combined well playing together for the first time in goals making full use of opportunities to score.
With great support from Ava, Emma and Mackenzie working hard to fee the circle and turning over loose balls in the midcourt. Sammy and Tess worked tirelessly in defence bring about some great rebounds and backing up the midcourt. The
inclusion of Charlie’s fresh legs in the last quarter saw her moving into space and being an option for the attacking end of
the court.

Under 11 Div 1 - The Under 11 Div1 team saw the inclusion of no less than four new players to the team with a variety of
combinations tried throughout the game The girls used the first quarter to settle with goals coming in the second quarter.
With persistence and better use of the ball the team gathered confidence and the mid court players Teagan, Amy, Nikiah and
Sammy moved the ball forward to provide shooting opportunities for Hannah and Latisha and Amber and Latisha in the
final quarter . Chloe and Maddie teamed up in defence for the first time and worked hard on rebounds and interceptions to
turn the ball over and send it forward down to the shooters. All in all a solid performance with the girls gaining confidence
in each quarter.
Coaches award – Teagan Finch & Hannah Matotek
Umpire best players – Chloe Wijohn, Latisha Dekoning & Hannah Matotek
Under 13 Div 2 – With most players transitioning from U11s into Under13 div 2 the scene was set for nerves and a faster
pace of game play. The girls teamed well against a well drilled Wentworth team and made great use of their voices with
many passages of play showing terrific potential to develop in the coming weeks with versatility and determination being a
key component.

The U15 team followed on from twilight teamwork playing a fantastic game and working well together. The shooters Ashlyn, Holly and Tiarnie who was recruited into shooting shot well and made the most of every scoring opportunity. The defensive end of the court in Alanah, Molly and Steph toiled relentlessly to obtain rebounds and intercepts and move the ball
through the midcourt to the waiting hands of Miah and Cloe.

Under 15 Div 1 – the opening game of the season was a physical encounter with fast and furious attacking and defensive
plays from both teams. All battles across the court were taken up to our opponents with all players making a contest to turn
the ball over. The first three quarters were tight but with persistence and patience to play to our own tune the girls took a 3
goal lead going into the last quarter to settle into a rhythm and take the game out by 12 goals.
