Le DELF – Diplôme d‘Etudes en Langue Française
Le DALF – Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française
The diplomas are issued in more than
160 countries around the world and
are internationally recognised. They
certify the level of linguistic competence and are highly regarded in the
professional world.
DELF and DALF are issued by the
French Ministry of Education through
its intermediary, Centre International
d‘Etudes Pédagogiques (CIEP), a
member of the Association of
Language Testers in Europe (ALTE).
The diplomas are developed by CIEP.
The seven independent diplomas
are aligned to the six levels of the
Common European Framework of
Reference for Languages (CEFR),
developed by the Council of Europe.
At each of these levels, the four core
competences of communication are
tested: listening, speaking, reading,
and writing.
A winning diploma
Globally Recognised Certificates
DELF and DALF diplomas are recognised around the world and are integrated into public school curricula in
many countries. They can open the
door to further education or to
universities in the French-speaking
world. For instance, DALF diploma
holders are exempt from French
language entrance examinations at
Universities in France and Switzerland. But above all, DELF and DALF
certify a minimum level of French,
thus enhancing employment prospects. Employers can rely on the
diplomas as a reference during the
recruitment processes or for further
staff development.

A DELF or DALF language diploma
is the strongest evidence of your
linguistic competence for studying,
working, or travelling in Switzerland,
France, and other French-speaking
countries.
In Switzerland, vocational schools,
secondary schools & colleges, universities, and numerous institutions of
further adult education prepare their
students for these exams.
DELF and DALF are also accredited by
various Swiss Federal Commissions.
