It fosters dialogue and analysis on emerging economies and their impact on global economic, social and environmental issues. The network gathers high-profile corporate representatives of major companies based in or with interest in emerging markets and OECD experts, in dynamic and outspoken debates on hot topics. Objectives The Emerging Markets Network (EMnet) is an informal forum gathering business actors, OECD experts and policy-makers. It aims at enhancing dialogue and cooperation between key corporate actors from OECD and emerging countries, promoting a vibrant exchange of knowledge and experiences on global issues. In the last decade, we have witnessed a rebalancing of the global wealth, with the economic centre of gravity shifting from OECD developed economies towards emerging economies. As a result of this trend, emerging economies will account for nearly 60% of world GDP in 20 years time, from 40% today – a phenomenon qualified by the Development Centre as “Shifting Wealth”. The corporate sector has played a major role in this transformation and today, the world’s emerging multinationals compete and partner with the mature economies’ firms in emerging markets and beyond. Strengthening dialogue between governments, business representatives and the OECD is particularly important in times of economic uncertainty, contributing to effective analysis and practical solutions for a sustainable model of growth. Launched early 2007, EMnet consists today of about 25 member companies leaders in their sector, with a third based in emerging economies. Member companies operate in diverse sectors, including finance, energy, telecommunications, construction and technology. EMnet, what’s in it for you and your company? A networking opportunity with other top executives in OECD-based multinationals and emerging economies, and access to a large pool of contacts in governments and think tanks maintained by the OECD Development Centre. A platform to share and discuss your position on priority topics and policy areas with relevant actors. A tailored access to the OECD’s vast resources and experts in diverse areas of policymaking, from financial issues, industry developments, energy, innovation or specific regions and countries to feed in your company’s strategy and research. An opportunity to get involved in the Development Centre’s areas of work. Looking to raise your company’s public profile? EMnet is not about public relations! If you’re looking for public visibility and raise the profile of your company, we propose sponsorship opportunities at our yearly regional fora on Latin America and on Africa, as well as other seminars organised at the OECD headquarters in Paris and abroad. Additionally, since 2010 EMnet has organised a yearly session in Beijing in the framework of their Business Leaders Roundtable jointly with the China International Council for the Promotion of Multinational Corporations, an association for business promotion linked to China’s Ministry of Commerce. The Roundtable is a yearly two-day event gathering executives from Chinese and foreign leading companies.
