In 2007, Schutt® Sports teamed up with Reggie Bush to
give $50,000 worth of football equipment to the high
schools of New Orleans. Even though football is only a
game, we believe it is a vital element to the education
of many young men – a means by which they can learn
about themselves, make friends and make better lives
and futures for themselves.
The educational system in New Orleans was devastated
by Katrina. Two YEARS later, there are still schools that
have not resumed their football programs.
We realize that football may not be the most important
part of the reconstruction of New Orleans, but for many
kids it’s a big part of rebuilding THEIR lives. If playing
football can help them overcome the misery they’ve
endured, then we’re going to do everything we can to
make that happen.
Much of New Orleans is as beautiful and vibrant as it
once was - a tribute to the thousands of citizens who
restored the city’s pride and beat back the flood waters
and the despair. Their achievement is not complete;
there are still areas of the city that need our help and
we will not stop doing our part until every kid has the
opportunity to play once again.

a compression set over time and does not return to its

As much as we'd like to see new equipment purchased every year, we know that's
not realistic. That's why Schutt® Reconditioning can return to you LIKE NEW helmets,
shoulder pads and uniforms, for a fraction of the cost of new gear. In addition, some
states require the periodic reconditioning of equipment. When you send helmets and
shoulder pads to us for reconditioning, you're extending the life of that equipment,
plus lowering your overall investment in your equipment! Reconditioning takes away
the uncertainty you face with your equipment each season and ensures your equipment is ready to go when your team is ready to go.
Helmet Cleaning and Sanitizing
Equipment managers do a great job of keeping their gear in tip-top shape. But,
let's face it: no matter what you do, helmets get dirty, gunky, smelly and worse.
Schutt® Reconditioning takes those helmets and gives them a good scrubbing
and sanitizing. The pads are taken out and, while the helmet is going through its
own refinishing process, get a washing like you wouldn't believe. The process
involves a cleaning that includes detergents, disinfectants, deodorizers, antibacterial treatments and more! The pads are bagged up, scrubbed to LIKE NEW
condition and are waiting for their LIKE NEW helmet at the end of the line.
Helmet Refinishing
You send us dirty, banged up helmets and we return to you fresh, sparkling LIKE
NEW helmets! First, the guts of the helmet (pads, faceguards, hardware, etc.) are
pulled out. Hardware that is worn out gets replaced. We'll replace spread, sprung
or worn out faceguards for a small, additional charge. Be sure to insist on genuine
Schutt® replacement parts, to make sure you don't endanger your warranty.
Then, the helmet's paint is stripped away and the shell is prepared for re-painting. The Schutt® Reconditioning process offers you the same spectacular painting
options that you can get on a new helmet! Over 900 colors and styles!
Helmet Re-Certification
As you know, football helmets are some of the most heavily tested equipment
in the sports industry. And, rightfully so. A lot is riding on the performance
of your helmets. Rest assured, before your helmets are returned to you by
Schutt® Reconditioning, they're subjected to the same rigorous NOCSAE testing and certification requirements that new helmets undergo. In other words,
if your reconditioned helmet doesn't meet the NOCSAE standards, we won't
re-certify it. Just another way Schutt® Reconditioning takes away some of the
uncertainty about your equipment as you get ready for another season.
Shoulder Pad Reconditioning
While we're most notable for our helmet reconditioning, we also take care of
uniforms and shoulder pads. Just like helmets, shoulder pads can get a little funky
after they've been used a while. When they've hit that state, send them to Schutt®
Reconditioning and we'll return them to you in LIKE NEW condition. When we get the
pads, the T-Hooks are replaced, we swap out new, high quality nylon straps for the
old ones and the entire pad undergoes a thorough cleaning and sanitizing process
that includes detergents, disinfectants, deodorizers and antibacterial treatments.
