Unavailable gradeable items are not visible in My Grades if
ungraded. Prior to the redesign of the My Grades tool (in
SP9 or older versions), the list of Grade Center columns
included items that were also unavailable. With the new My
Grades, unavailable items (items with AVAILABLE_IND of N)
are not visible in My Grades. This presents a problem to
users who have been using availability and adaptive release
to manage when students are able to take tests. It is not
until 9.1 SP14 that there is the ability to prevent users from
accessing a date past its due date, without having to make it
unavailable. While the items will show under My Grades
once there is a grade assigned to them, users still want to
have the item visible on the My Grades list.

The Spell Check tool in the VTBE Content Editor behaves
erratically when correcting a word that has been flagged as
misspelled. Depending on how one goes about making edits,
the tags inserted by the tool to flag misspelled words will
occasionally remain after the word is corrected. If the
misspelled word touches a correctly spelled word before or
after it (space between is removed) or text is
dragged/dropped or copy/pasted, the closing tag can end up
inserted within the word, resulting in partial words being
flagged. When this occurs, the tags are not refreshed when
the spell-check is turned off and on. The words or partial
Spell Check/Content words will be flagged by continued spell checks despite

The checkbox option in the Announcement

overriding the user or system settings for
email notification deployments and sends
an email immediately to the users if

notification settings. Users may change
their settings for notifications including
turning them off completely.

After the recent update to Blackboard Learn the Brainfuse

building block (Bb plug-in) being incompatible with our
current version of Bb Learn.
Defect
When adding or modifying an Adaptive Release Rule with a
Membership criterion, a list of all users in the system is
provided to select from rather than just
the list of students enrolled in the course. The system allows
adding non-enrolled users in the criterion for Adaptive
Release.

VTBE
VTBE spell checker turns off after entering a space. 1. If you
click the VTBE spell checker button, it will highlight
misspelled words, but if you type in a space, the words will
become un-highlighted and you will need to run the spell
checker again. 2. In the new VTBE, the browser's built-in
spell check function cannot be used, which makes the above
issue more problematic

Instructors may notice longer-than-expected processing time
and larger-than-expected package files when exporting data
from a course. This would affect exporting data from the
Control Panel > Packages and Utilities > Export/Archive
Course as well as from the Test/Survey/Pool Manager.
12/19/2014
In most cases, these symptoms are caused by assessments
that have been imported into the course from a third-party
application. These applications package files related to the
assessments in a "ppg" folder. Unfortunately, the
Blackboard application cannot distinguish what related data
pertains to what assessment(s). Thus, when any
Content Exchange import/export/restore/archive operation is run, the entire
(import/export/rest "ppg" folder is included in the process, regardless of whether
ore/archive)
it pertains what the content exchange operation is targeting. Defect
This behavior does not typically cause
failure of content exchange operations,
though it can undesirably count towards
the course quota. It also increases
processing time and the size of the
package files. There is currently no
approved way of cleaning up this data or
preventing it from being included in
content exchange operations.
Developers of third-party products that
provide assessment package files have the
option of re-designing their software to
use a packing format that does not suffer
from this limitation.

A high priority ticket has been opened with
the Blackboard Managed Hosting team.
Blackboard is currently investigating this
issue. At this time there is not a
workaround for this issue.
Instructors may try doing a Ctrl A/ Ctrl V

Blackboard is working on a patch to
resolve this issue.
Course Menu Tool
Links
Bb is working on a patch to correct this
issue. The workaround is to add a tools
area menu link to the course then enter
the tools area>click on the tool that is
affected to access it. Click here to view a
video demonstrating how to add a tools
area.
