Transport:
Taxis in London tend to very expensive (average price for Heathrow – Central London £50.00 / €56.00). A cheaper
and more efficient option is to use public transport (the Underground or the buses). All information about London
transport can be found on the Transport for London (TfL) website (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/).
You may wish to purchase an “Oyster Card” from the TfL website in advance; this is a pre-paid card that can use on
the Underground, buses, and certain trains (not the Heathrow / Gatwick / Stansted Express, which will cost extra)
and will allow you to take advantage of cheaper fares. This link will allow you to buy an Oyster card from outside the
UK (http://visitorshop.tfl.gov.uk/)
Within Central London, walking is often the fastest option for getting from A to B.
Listed below are the ways to get to our offices from London’s four main airports (Heathrow, Gatwick, London City,
Stansted) and train stations
From Heathrow:
•
Take the Piccadilly Line (Eastbound) from the appropriate Heathrow station to Russell Square station. It is then a
5-7 minute walk from the station to the ACU. (see map)
Or
•
Take the Heathrow Express to Paddington Station. At Paddington change onto either the Hammersmith & City
Line (Eastbound) or Circle Line (Eastbound) to Euston Square. At Paddington Station please make sure that you
take the Underground from the correct platforms (platforms 15 &16). It is then a 5 minute walk from Euston
Square station to the ACU. (see map)
From Gatwick:
•
Take the Gatwick Express train service from the airport to Victoria Train Station. You will then need to take the
Victoria Line (Northbound) to Euston train station. It is then a 5 minute walk from the station to the ACU. (see
map)
From London City:
•
Take the Dockland Light Railway (DLR) from the airport to Bank Station. At Bank change onto the Northern Line
(Northbound) and get off at Euston train station. It is then a 5 minute walk from the station to the ACU. (see
map)
From Stansted:
•
Take the Stansted Express from the airport to Tottenham Hale station. At Tottenham Hale change onto the
Victoria Line (Southbound) and get off at Euston train station. It is then a 5 minute walk from the station to the
ACU. (see map)
From King’s Cross / St. Pancras (For those travelling by Eurostar):
•
Come out of the train station and turn right. Walk down Euston Road, past the British Library until you reach the
junction of Euston Road and Upper Woburn Place. Turn left onto Upper Woburn Place walking past St. Pancras
Church. Continue down Upper Woburn Place until you reach Tavistock Square. Take a right and our offices are
the first building you will come to. (see map)
I strongly recommend checking the TfL (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/) website in the week before your visit to look out any
planned engineering works on the Underground lines in question, as the entire network is currently going through a
major restructuring programme.
