REPORT OF ACTIVITY: HOW T O P R E P A R E THE THESIS A N D P A P E R S IN L A T E X FORMAT DATE: 28-29 March 2014 VENUE: COMPUTER LABORATORY, D02, FKA, UTM ORGANIZED BY: POST GRADUATE STUDENT SOCIETY (PGSS, FKA) SCHOOL OF POSTGRADUATE STUDIES (SPS-UTM) 1.0 INTRODUCTION This program was successfully held on 28 & 29 of March 2014 at Computer Laboratory, D02, FKA, UTM, Johor. This program was organized by PGSS-FKA. This workshop was to provide and support comprehensive information for the postgraduate students to have effective skills and ability to write thesis and journal papers in Latex format. This Two day workshop aims to obtain comprehensive experimental skill in LaTeX software to postgraduate students and apply in their writings. The target participants are Ph.D and master students. The program was conducted by Dr. Hassan Chizari from Faculty of Computing, Department of Computer Science. 2.0 OBJECTIVES AND GOALS The objectives of this program are: a. To give opportunity to students to know LaTeX software and its benefits in technical document writing b. To provide a basic understanding of LaTeX software c. To give students knowledge about how to write research papers, journal papers and Ph.D. thesis in LaTex 3.0 ORGANIZING COMMITTEE Table below shows the list of organizing committee for this program. Nevertheless, this software is complicated to use due to there is many commands and writing codes. The committee received very positives feedback from participant which it showed this workshop achieved their goals successfully. By presenting this program, it is hoped that participants have more ability to prepare their researches and technical papers by new software which is very high demanded by authentic international journals. This program finally achieved its objectives to give more ability to the participants.
