Move-in Service Instructions for loading and shipping a Student Pak Container Thanks for choosing Boerman Moving & Storage to provide your move-in service into the WIU and/or EIU dorms. At pickup, the loading crew will place a dolly under your container and roll it to the truck. Please fill your container on a first floor location, like the garage, where the container can be rolled right into the truck. To assemble the shipping container, place the container on the floor with the flaps up. Square the container. Fold the two smaller flaps in first and then the two large flaps over the smaller ones. Turn the carton right side up so the floor of the container is now sitting on the floor. DO NOT tape the bottom of the container. This may seem unusual but when we are in your student’s dorm room making delivery it will be very important that the bottom is not taped. Every time we move the containers we will be using a dolly underneath them. Plastic bag inserted into assembled shipping container. Place the supplied plastic bag in bottom of the shipping container. Make sure the seam of the bag is lined up in the center of the container so the seam of the bag is over the seam of the container. Shape the bag so it completely fills the container on all sides. Drape the extra plastic over the edge of the container and make sure that the bag is even around the bottom. See picture above. Load heavy items into the bottom. Use towels, linens, or clothing to act as a cushion between fragile items and to fill all crevices. Use all available space by making sure any boxes or other containers are completely full. Do not load extremely heavy items, barbells, bricks, or liquid containers that could break or spill. The container can be loaded about 8-10 inches higher than the sides. Shipping container fully loaded and bag sealed. Lift the draped plastic on the sides and gather it on top. Place the supplied shipping information page (see 3rd page of this document) so that it is inside of the container and showing through the plastic bag. Take the supplied zip tie and seal the bag. The bag must close completely. This is your proection to make sure everything loaded into the container is delivered to you. Do NOT write on the outside of the shipping container. When we come to pickup from your home a 2nd shipping label will be placed on the container showing the delivery location. When the container is delivered to your residence housing room the cardboard box will be removed and your belongings will be sitting on the floor in the bag. Note that the bag may slump to the sides without the support of the box. Do not try to move the entire bag. Cut the bag open and remove the contents. Student’s belongings with shipping container removed. Boerman Movers takes every precaution to make sure your shipment arrives intact. If in the rare situation something is missing or damaged, it must be reported at 800-323-3048 on move in day. If you have any questions about the packing of the shipping container or delivery procedures, call the Student Move Coordinator at 630-972-1000. • Important items to remember: The containers are designed to hold approximately 200 pounds. Due to this weight it is very important that the containers be loaded on a ground floor. If you are unable to do this please discuss with your student move coordinator our alternative options. • The containers can be loaded only 8-10” higher than the top of the container. Anything higher than this will need to be packed into another container. • Packing of bulk liquids is highly discouraged (ie: cases of water and Gatorade) these items add additional undue weight and have a higher possibility of leaking. Single liquids such as shampoo, conditioner and laundry detergent should be packed with in a plastic bag so that if leaking were to occur it will be contained. SHIPPING INFORMATION SHEET Complete this sheet and place inside the shipping container, showing through the plastic bag. Also tape to other individual items like refrigerators that do not fit in the shipping containers.
