HOW TO MAKE YOUR BAR OR BAT MITZVAH MORE MEANINGFUL

MET COUNCIL’S HELPFUL TIPS
H OW TO MAKE YOUR BAR OR BAT
MITZVAH MORE MEANINGFUL
You’ve booked the perfect band, found the ideal dress
or tuxedo, and practiced your Torah reading. Everything is going perfectly, but you want your Bar or Bat
Mitzvah to be even more memorable and meaningful! You understand many families are struggling
right now and you want to do something to help.
Our Mitzvah Program can work with you to design
a special program or cause that will make an impact and showcase your commitment to helping
those less fortunate. Check out what previous B’nai
Mitzvah have completed or start brainstorming your
own ideas!
Emily Kellman went door to door to DSW, the Athlete’s Foot, and All Dressed up to collect 40 pairs of shoes to
donate to Met Council’s Machson program at an estimated value of $3,200! She arranged silver baskets filled
with the shoes around the bima to showcase her dedication to giving (and her admitted shoe obsession). Forty
boys and girls will have high-quality shoes to wear this winter because of Emily.
Ali Reisner donated her Bat Mitzvah money to buy her peers their own Bat Mitzvah dresses!
For her Bat Mitzvah, Deborah Pollack asked guests to bring
non-perishable food items which she donated to Met Council’s
Kosher Food Pantry!
Other Ideas:
• Donate centerpieces containing food or toys.
• Donate money to fund a peer’s Bar Mitvah celebration.
• Give a new dress or suit to a less fortunate B’nai Mitzvah.
• Ask your friends and family to make a donation to Met Council in your honor by including a special insert in your invitation.
